Raiders to hire Luke Getsy as OC

To be fair, Rodgers only played four downs under Hackett with the Jets. More than likely, Rodgers would turn Hackett garbage into gold

Im not sure how much DA vouched for Getsy but getting information from one of the best WRs the last decade can’t be a bad thing. Probably happens more than we think

Rodgers vouched for Hackett from their time together in Green Bay, before Hackett went and completely stunk the joint out in Denver.

This is interesting

TDL is the only Raiders media I consume. This is a good breakdown and summary of Getsy's system. However, I disagree with Marcus' pigeonholing of certain QBs that would fit the system. I believe the zone reads and exotic rollouts are not an essential part of any offensive system, but were put there because Fields is a great runner. My biggest criticism of Getsy's playcalling is how often he would have 4+ receivers run routes, which is probably why you see the spacing issues on some of his calls.

TDL also seemed to rule out Fields to the Raiders. I am not buying it. I think Getsy likes Fields and Fields likes Getsy. But, I'm in the camp that Fields is staying in Chicago until Schefter or Rappaport tweet otherwise.

The Chicago Bears 2022 season was more telling about Getsy's offense. There was more stuff going down field. The 2023 season had more screens and short stuff. I think this was because Justin Fields is a slow processor. Getsy was trying to get the ball out of Fields hands quicker. If Getsy runs the offense like he did in 2022, then the Raiders will be ok.

I feel more optimistic having seen the TDL breakdown.

Also listened to a Packers journo on Q. Meyers pod and he was very complimentary about the impact that he had on Adams and Rodger’s and about the potential of his scheme with the right QB.

After watching the TDL podcast on Luke Getsy, Michael Mayer must be rubbing his hands in anticipation, could be a big year for the young man.

Loved some of the deep concepts and the running concepts though probably aided by a running QB. He seemed a bit more innovative than initially thought, hadn’t watched the Bears enough really to know that much previously.

Based on what? Because it can't be based on his actual performance, the Bears offense was a disaster over the last two seasons and he killed Fields development.

Look Getsy isn't perfect and people want to debate whether it was him or Fields. I'd imagine if he had a QB that can throw the ball and actually complete passes he'll be a pleasant surprise.

Good coordinators are usually able to develop their players, see Josh Allen, Mahomes, Lamar, etc. Fields regressed under Getsy because he wasn't willing to build his system around his strengths.
