onejayhawk
Did you know that Pat Riley has a copyright on the term from when he was with the Lakers in the 1980s? When Michael's Bulls won three straight, Riley got paid from all the advertising revenue. Patrick Mahomes and company have the chance to climb that mountain. Baseball has done five straight. Basketball did four before I was born. In the NFL, Lombardy's Packers managed three in a row from 1965-1967. The back-to-back Super Bowl wins in 1966 and 1967 were only a confirmation of a dynasty already begun. The Chiefs were one of the victims of that run. Now, Mahomes and the Chiefs can match that record, which no one in the Super Bowl era has done. Can they do it? Of so how? One thing to consider. Chris Jones had another monster game in the Super Bowl. He is a free agent. can they afford to pay him?

It's so universal it should be laughed out of any sort of court.

TecmoSuperJoe
I still think the odds are highly stacked against the Chiefs to do so, but they still may have the best chance despite everything we already know from the teams that have gotten close. Sneed was one of the five best CB in the league this year, even better than McDuffie who went to the Pro Bowl, but Jones was the best DT in the NFL this season. However, Jones is set to make more than twice the money and he turns 30 in July. Sneed just turned 27. Add to that the 2021 draft class of Bolton, Humphrey, Gray, and Smith. Reworking those contracts will be a priority. Headliners with expired contracts: Chris Jones CEH Willie Gay Lucas Niang L'Jarius Sneed Michael Danna Headliners on their last season: Justin Reid MVS Harrison Butker Charles Omenihu Nick Bolton Creed Humphrey Noah Gray Trey Smith Justin Watson In financial terms, it makes the most sense to let Jones get paid in FA, take the 3rd round comp pick, and put the money to younger players. RaidersAreOne
Those are some seriously big names. Arguably their two best defenders in Sneed and Jones, then potentially 40% of their great OL + a top tier MLB in Bolton and a very solid S in Reid next year? I think you almost have to let Jones walk as crazy as that is. Try your best to keep Sneed and that OL intact. Bolton should be cheaper than the other big names too. With the likely loss of a few of those guys and Kelce turning 35 when the season is young makes me think they take a step back. But of course it all revolves around Mahomes and Reid. With those two at the helm they will always be a contender. Edited February 14 by RaidersAreOne

I doubt that Jones would take a discounted contract. That said, allowing him to go for the $Million sack was big IMO. They will part amicably. CEH and Niang are gone. Clyde is a decent backup RB but you want more from a 1st round pick. Niang never proved out. Even when they needed a RT he did not get the call. Gay is another story, but he is already saying goodbyes. They have three good LB and can draft another. To my mind, the question is which of the Bolton, Humphrey, Smith trio do they extend first. Also bear in mind that the 2022 draft was loaded.

stl4life07
The Chiefs was +600 to win the Superbowl this season. They will be +650 to win the Superbowl this upcoming season as it stands right now. Im certainly not betting on them this upcoming season. Its going to be hard. Not really for the Chiefs themselves but the competition around them. It starts with the Chargers in their own division. Harbaugh is going to change the culture of the Chargers to make them a physical tough minded team. If there was ever a time the Chargers stop Chargering it would be now with Harbaugh. Then I think about the Bills still having Allen, the Dolphins should get better, the Jags will get healthy with Lawrence, the Bengals will get better with Burrow, the Ravens still have Lamar, the Texans will get better with Stroud. Like its going to be tough. And Im not even talking about what if the Broncos get the QB that Payton want like he did with the Saints getting Brees. Im not even mentioning what if the Steelers get a QB that will upgrade them. What if Watson gets back to half of what he was in Houston with getting back a healthy Chubb and that defense. If this was the NBA where all you need is like two superstars and some really good role players to fit around them with a great coach I would say yes the Chiefs could definitely threepeat. This isnt the NBA. The NFL is more physical and it takes a ton of variables to even make it to the Superbowl let alone win it. Not to mention the playoffs is a one and done. The one thing nobody talks about which is a negative is how many times Mahomes have trailed by double digits in these playoffs. Yes he was able to come back and win those games but thats messing with fire that will eventually catch up to where he wont be able to continue to pull off double digit comebacks. And all it takes is to run into the wrong team to get down by double digit points in the playoffs and lose. So yeah I wont be betting on them to threepeat. And let it be known I think this season took ALOT out of the Chiefs. More than you are thinking and I wont be surprise if it shows in this upcoming season. Now people will still believe in them bc of what they did this season but in the end they wont win a Superbowl. It wouldnt shock me if they didnt make it to the AFCCG this upcoming season.
