I saw this article and thought it was an interesting topic:

Quote
  • Broncos QB Russell Wilson
  • Browns RB Nick Chubb
  • Raiders QB Jimmy Garoppolo
  • Chargers WR Mike Williams
  • Chargers pass-rushers Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack
  • Packers LT David Bakhtiari
  • Saints RB Alvin Kamara
  • Eagles LB Haason Reddick
  • Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett
  • Packers LB De'Vondre Campbell
  • Dolphins CB Xavien Howard
  • Raiders WR Hunter Renfrow
  • Seahawks S Jamal Adams
  • Eagles DB Kevin Byard

Who do you think will be a surprise/not so surprise cut from your team?

Ignore the talk that DEN is open to a restructure with removing the 2025 guarantee if Wilson is willing - Wilson isn't willing (nor should he be), and DEN is just posturing to see if there's any trade market (unless there's a brain dead FO <which should never be discounted, but this would egregious>), and then will cut him.

The eye-opener is that DJ Jones is no lock to remain - he was awful this year.  At 10M saved, it's a definite possibility.

Tim Patrick is almost certainly a goner, but that's not in the same stratosphere as in the OP.

Lions will probably cut Tracy Walker post June 1st. Halapoulivaati Vaitai and Romeo Okwara are FAs as 2024 is a voidable year in their contracts. i can't imagine CJGJ will be back and he'll be a FA as well (2024 voidable).

CJGJ is probably the only name of any note. Big V isn't an impact player anymore. He missed 2022 and only started 3 games in 2024.

Jaguars have a handful of potential "cap casualty" sort of cuts that could be made.  Probably not all of them, but some combination is likely.  Also might not all be cuts at the same time, depending on how their money is structured.

Cam Robinson, LT - Potentially move on from him.  He's a serviceable LT when healthy, but he's also really expensive and injured all the time.  They might just want to move on.  Hard to really read.

Brandon Scherff, OG - I doubt he's cut, personally.  But he's being paid elite, Pro Bowler IOL money for delivering mediocre, inconsistent middle of the road play.  So there's certainly a possibility that becomes a way of trying to open up some cap.

Rayshawn Jenkins, S - Questionable if he even counts as "notable" but he's a fairly likely cut.

Darious Williams, CB - He can still play, but the savings they'd get out of it certainly puts a target on him as a potential, maybe even very likely cut.

I'm sure there will be other moves and cuts, but i think that's probably more or less the list of "notable" ones.  Or at least, ones with significant cap impact and/or potential starters or starter-ish caliber guys.

None for NE that are particularly interesting.

JC Jackson, $14M off the cap with $0 penalty. He probably signs somewhere, and in fairness played better in his return than he did as a Charger, but doesn’t bring much to the table as a starter. Depth at best.

JJSS and Davante Parker aren’t exactly roster locks, even though there’s virtually no monetary benefit to cutting either of them. Reclamation projects, at best.

Davon Godchaux, could save around $8M-$9M by letting him go. He’s actually a solid run stuffer, definitely a guy you’d want to add to a rotation if you’re soft against the run. Worthless on passing downs, though.

Wouldnt be surprised if Robert Woods gets cut.  The emergence of Nico Collins and Tank Dell pushed him as the 3rd option at best at WR when everyone is healthy.  Texans will add a younger option this offseason too.

Kadarius Toney is probably gonna get cut. @Forge tells me that guy is a #1 WR.

MVS is also all but guaranteed. Barring him taking a substantial and deliberate pay cut, he's gone. I do think he could still find a spot as a role player somewhere. Just never worked out as a full time player.

Seahawks have quite a few, as they really bungled the caps the last few years.
-Jamal Adams is set to count for 26M on next year's cap, is not really good anymore (0 INT/FF last 2 years, 0 sacks last 3 years...) and played only 10 games combined in 22' and 23'. Easy cut IMO
-Quandre Diggs, another middling safety, is a 21M cap hit for 2024. Another easy cut candidate.
(just imagine having a team spending 47M on 2 safeties, and they're not even good ones at that. Plus S Julian Love - who is actually good - is making 8M... madness!!)
-Lockett might not be as good as he was, but he's still a pretty serviceable WR, however he's projected for 27M on the cap, which is definitely way more than what he is worth, especially with Metcalf and JSN also on the roster.
-Then I know he's not in any way "notable" but another cap blunder on the Seahawks part was to give a sizeable contract to Will Dissly, who was TE3 in receiving (17 catches last year) and is not even that good of a blocker. He's due for an absurd 10M. I have to believe he will be gone too.
Man that's a lot of bad contracts for safeties and te, positions that are definitely not correlated to winning in any way (lol Pete Carroll).
