2024 Salary Cap revealed, Up $30.6M

Boom!

My quick thoughts are: this helps every team. Good thing for the Bills is they can extend Dawkins and restructure Allen’s to free up a lot. Still more moves to be made but they don’t need to touch Diggs or Miller and can get out of both after the season.

I wonder if Veach will restructure the Mahomes contract now to unlock even more $ combined with the higher than expected (atleast outside of NFL front office personnel) salary cap to front load some extensions (like Creed Humphrey, Nick Bolton, or Trey Smith) and free agent signings (in-house like either Willie Gay or Drue Tranquill, etc. and outside like a mid-level veteran wide receiver).

I feel like it's possible to sign Jones and tag Sneed now, you just have to let go of the lower end guys.

This is all assuming you're going in for the three peat.

Reminder, bigger cap means bigger contracts.

Free agents are going to get paid so everyone should remember that when those get announced lol. We should see some sizeable jumps . Receiver market in particular should go absolutely bonkers if these contracts (Pittman, Lamb, Aiyuk, JJ) get done

I feel like it will. A ton of those soon-to-be big named FA have a much higher chance of being retained now. Can the Chiefs afford both Chris Jones and Sneed now?

They could have already. More a question of if they deem it to be worth it.

That was always on the table. Moving MVS, restructuring Mahomes, they had options to do both. Just really handcuffs them, so whether it was the best option has been the determining factor.

Just stresses how much bargain FAs and draft picks are going to be towards championship runs. The superstars are gonna keep getting paid more and more, and even the mid tier FA guys are going to see huge pay increases. Who’d have thought 10 years ago that MVS, DJ Chark, Juju, and Russell Gage would be $10M+/year players?

Every year the championship team gets quality play out of bargain FAs. Chiefs got some good play from Drue Tranquill and Mike Edwards. The Bucs team had Antonio Brown, Leonard Fournette, Ndamukung Suh making plays for them. That Rams team had been getting great play from Robert Woods and Leonard Floyd. Doesn’t always have to be cheap, bargain guys. But just players that sign below market value for one reason or another. And then obviously getting good play from guys on rookie deals.
