I guess you could say.....

......

...

..

we dropped him *rimshot

The guy was crazy bad in the regular season but then showed up for some clutch catches in the playoffs so I'm not gonna destroy the guy but for what he was making this was inevitable.

never really understood their signing of him to that contract

Really?  They needed a deep threat to replace Hill.  And they got the deep threat.  Though he was no where anything like Hill, except for threatening the defense deep.  Won two SB's with that threat.

They obviously thought that he could be coached into being a better overall receiver (including catching the ball) and it simply didn't happen.

And those of us who watched him in GB knew that he was likely to NOT become a better receiver with better hands.  He was what he was.  And still is.

Guessing he will have a market in FA, but it will be a tier 2 (bottom) or tier 3 market.

I think it's more that they won the SB despite MVS than in any part due to his "threat". And to be clear I was speaking on the terms of the contract, not that they signed him at all. I'm not entirely sure how it could even be debated, frankly.

I remember that the contract he got was pretty much what Spotrac estimated for him.

We all knew that he wouldn't live up to that kind of deal.  So don't take this as an argument.  We wished him well and were happy we didn't pay that for him.

But look at his Packer stats prior.  I think there was a year in there when he had the largest yards per catch average in the league.

Last year was his least productive year in the NFL and he still had 15 yards per catch.  And I think that still had him tied for 21'st in the league.

So, I look at it this way.....

Some geneticists at the DNR got together and decided to create the best fish ever.  They wanted it to look beautiful.  They wanted it to taste great.  They want it to be a great fighter.  So, they took genes from a coho salmon for looks, walleye for the taste and musky for the fighting ability.  They named it.....Kowalski.  Now if they only get it to figure out how to swim......

That's MVS as a WR.
