Was to release Logan Thomas

The #Commanders are releasing TE Logan Thomas, sources say. Thomas was due $6.5 million this upcoming season, including a $500k roster bonus later this month. Thomas, 32, had 55 catches for 496 yards and 4 TDs last season — his highest output in all three categories since 2020.

This roster is worse than when Ron took over, right? Like he was a mess lol.

I don’t know, it’s kind of similar. Some spots he inherited were better but other positions now are better than what Ron inherited.

100%. I know there are some that don't agree, but the roster has less talent and depth at almost every position.

I am curious which ones you think are better now than what he inherited?

QB, WR, CB, S

I know you value players slightly differently than I do, so I won't dispute those. That does leave the vast majority of positions as either equal or less than though.

We do know that the roster he inherited wasn't good either.

Absolutely. Rivera gained an awful roster and left an awful roster. Semantics on worse or not. The point is, in 4 years, he left it how he found it.

DT has basically remained the same. The DEs were traded away by the new regimes recommendation, but he blew the Chase Young pick so I guess DE could be argued to be worse. We didn’t have a lot at TE before or after. The only part of the roster that is significantly worse is the Oline imo.

He killed our depth at DT. Like one of his biggest failures is taking a stacked position and making it a weakness in one season. DE is easily worse, I wont get into the players. LB is a toss up to whether you believe Jamin Davis improves to anything decent. Agreed on TE, might even say Rivera left it better with Thomas. Every O-Line position got worse during his tenure and NONE of his draft picks panned out. Sam Cosmi may end up being decent, and is the only player that doesn't need an immediate upgrade. I think the K position is worse than he inherited. Tress Way has remained steady. SS is an upgrade IMO going from Collins to Curl. RB is also a position he never seemed to get right. AP + Chris Thompson > Brian Robinson + AG. FS could be seen as an upgrade, but it remains to be seen if Forrest can stay healthy and what Martin turns into, Butler and Apke were horrible draft picks IMO.

Phidariean Mathis has basically been a zero, and Tim Settle was a much better fit.  Also never effectively replaced Ioannidis as a tweener.

Ioannidis was broken down by the time we moved on from him and Tim Settle was a JAG, he's a wash with John Ridgeway IMO.
