y*so*blu
Marvin, man ... give it up. You had a great coaching run but it's time to walk away.

Bellicheck proves lying to the media is part of it. But also actually being a good coach helps too. Marvin is definitely fired and he knows it, Probably just saving face so his players don't quit on him (if they already haven't)
TecmoSuperJoe
Longtime Bengals fans right now: Seriously though, Lewis should have been fired years ago. He's had 7 chances to win a playoff game and he doesn't have one victory. That's nuts. Doesn't matter how bad the Bengals were in the 90's. Set your standards higher. Marvin Lewis and Jon Fox are out in their back yard pretending tree branches are lightsabers by comparison.

MWil23
There are some coaches in sports, namely the NFL, that are great at taking absolute dumpster fires and turning them into competitive NFL teams. They are guys like: *Marty Schottenheimer: He did it in Cleveland, Kansas City, San Diego and Washington (still lol at them firing him for Spurrier after an 8-8 1st year campaign). He's the classic "bad luck"/can't get over the hump coach, but he'll turn your team into an overnight contender. *Jeff Fisher: Tennessee and Los Angeles he had moderate success and moderate failure. The Rams are CLEARLY in a better position because of him than when he took over, even if he wasn't the one to get them to where they are now. *Marvin Lewis: Some of you aren't old enough to remember how truly horrific the Bengals were during the 90s and early 2000s. To put things into perspective, the Browns didn't have a team during a 3 year span and won 5 games in two years in the late 90's/2000 when they returned, and they still had more wins than the Bengals in the 90s. Marvin came in and made them competitive overnight Sometimes it takes one of these bridge guys to get you close, and then you need another guy to come in and get you to the next level. Marvin is definitely one of these guys.
