Darnold received a standing ovation from the stands when he returned to the field after the low hit by Hunter.

The fans have definitely warmed up to him since the early days after his signing.

It’s definitely a feel good story. Another reason I root for Geno Smith and Baker Mayfield. It’s good to see guys who were put in crappy positions reclaim their careers.

Darnold threw four touchdowns against Houston, marking the first time in his career he has thrown multiple touchdowns in three straight games.

In 66 games with the Jets, Panthers and 49ers, Darnold earned one game with four touchdowns. He's already hit that mark in three tilts with KOC.

let's say Darnold has a good to great year with us, proves himself born again with  a better skillset and awareness, and wants to put himself out on the open veteran QB market. obviously, there will be interested teams.

but... is part of Darnold's current success due to O'Connell? will Darnold do just as well next year with a different coach and scheme? or not?

I think a tag and trade would do right by him if he can find the right situation, and would allow us to avoid losing him for nothing. The mechanics of that are a little more challenging, but would be in the best interest of the player and the team.

A deep playoff run should result in a new contract with the Vikings.

McCarthy has played in half a preseason game, we don't know what he is. If he has to sit for 2-3years who cares, that mean we constantly deep contenders.

If you finally find something magical you don't let it go for unknowns.
