Optimism for 2024

#1, im hopeful for Jaire.

Turns out he may have been justified in being disgruntled, as evidenced by what Devondre Campbell had to say…

MLF made the right move in moving on from the Barry Defensive Regime. Now, Jaire has a chance to be heard again, I hope it leads to him shadowing the number one all game.

There isn’t many matchups in football I enjoy more than a #1 CB going against a #1 WR for an entire game. Especially when they start jawing.

so that’s one thing I’m genuinely hopeful for this year. If anyone has an interesting perspective on something they’re hopeful for, I’d love to hear it.

Cmon Erik Stokes! You have coaches who will use your strengths and prepare you like you've not experienced.  Come in healthy and you can turn that CB room around.

Contract year for Myers, Slaton, Newman, McDuffie and Stokes (though 5'th year is there).

Slaton would be great to have back.  Myers is a 50/50.  Newman is a hard no.  McDuffie would need to show something pretty significant to be much more than a ST/3rd LB type contract.  Same with Stokes.  No chance on the 5th year option IMO

Yup.  In order to be really good in the NFL, you need a bunch of things to happen.

Quality vets playing at a high level.

Guys on rookie deals outplaying their contracts by large amounts.

Guys in contract years flat out killing it.

So I always look at those guys on rookie contracts in a contract year.  My quick list was unimpressive.  Even if Slaton and Myers really perform well, that likely doesn't move the need much for wins.  Stokes, though, could.  But I 100% support what you said concerning all the guys, especially Stokes.

Stokes is like the poster boy for why you don't do mental gymnastics trying to project his next contract based off of one year of play.

I’m just looking forward to the amount of times I will be able to post Dashboard Confessional’s song Vindicated in the defense thread.

And tag that British Packer fan.

And anyone else who was dumb enough to even come close to defending Joe friggin Barry.
