Sad People
Which QB would you rather have? Got into discussion with a guy who thinks Jared Goff is a poor mans Kirk Cousins when i think he has that twisted. To me Kirk Cousins is a poor mans Jared Goff and told him i think most people would agree with me and just wanted yalls opinions.
Jakuvious
I picked Kirk, but like....eh? They have a lot of similar strengths, and basically identical weaknesses. If they swapped teams for a week I'm not entirely convinced that I would notice.
nagahide13
Goff because of age contract and Achilles injury. Healthy/prime I think they're pretty much the same guy.
Soko
Pretty similar caliber of player, IMO. I’d go Kirk, just because I think he gets a little hotter when things are going well. Might trust Goff more in prime time, though. It’s a coin flip, tbh.
Ozzy
How is this even a question? One is 5-4 in the playoffs, the other is 1-4. There is no discussion. Oh and one who has a massively better playoff record is 6 years younger than the other.... Goff has only been in the league 8 years, Cousins 12. The fact Cousins has never made a deep playoff run in his career really means all the stats he has are just straight meaningless. Unless you win, who cares about your stats as a QB. For example, like anyone cares Jameis Winston lead the NFL in passing yards 2019? The team was 7-9 and missed the playoffs so of course no one cares and no one should care.
HerbertGOAT
As others have said, they're very similar players. However, I think the only times Goff has performed better than Kirk is when Goff is in a better situation. I'd probably take Kirk, but either is fine. You can probably win a Super Bowl with them both in the right year.

Maybe overall, but 2018 the year Kirk Cousins came to Minnesota after Minnesota had Sam Bradford get hurt the year before and Keenum took over.... They just reached the playoffs that year 2017 and lost in the Divisional round in the NFC after winning a wild card game. That 2018 year they had Dalvin Cook at RB emerging, Murray behind him, Diggs and Thielen at WR and Rudolph at TE. Defensively they had Eric Kendricks, 1st Team All Pro 2017 Xavier Rhodes at CB, Harrison Smith, Danielle Hunter, Linval Joseph, Anthony Barr, Anthony Harris, Everson Griffen, Trae Waynes and Sheldon Richardson etc. In 2017 they were defensively 1st in least yards allowed per game, 2nd in the NFL in least amount of passing yards allowed per game, 2nd in the NFL in least amount of rush yards allowed per game and 1st in least amount of points allowed per game. Terence Newman was the only real missing star on that defense in 2018 from 2017. A big piece and no real nickel without him, Alexander disappointing at that spot but still, tons of returning defensive players off a great unit in 2017... That 2018 season they did not even make the playoffs, and Kirk was brought there to get them over the hump as it were. Sure one can blame Mike Zimmer and his relationship with Cousins but arguably his best season on Minnesota was just as good as he was in that 2018 season, and that was a solid team. He was not able to do anything with it or get them to another level. Jared Goff has done it more than once, and especially now with the Lions he is a key point to that organizations recent success. His play and his leadership. Kirk has never done the things Jared Goff has done and yes it all comes down to do you win or lose in the playoffs. Easy to say oh Kirk Cousins can lead a team to the Super Bowl, but until he actually does it in real life, it will always be a massive question about him as a football player. Monsters of the Midway
Cousins has had a better career thus far but for this season I would choose Goff. It'll be his third year in the same system whereas Cousins will be starting over with a new team and new Offense and Goff's also younger and healthier.
Spartacus
This year it would be Goff. Last year and before it would be Cousins. Cousins is just a better version of Goff. The only real difference I see in their game is Cousins doesn't get as rattled under pressure to the same degree Goff does.
NYRaider
The one that actually wins playoff games.

Lamar Jackson has similar questions that Kirk Cousins does, but he at least has been apart of great football teams but until he does it in the playoffs yes that is a question on his career. Top 12 in NFL history for playoff wins, yeah it is kind of a good list. Tom Brady 35 Joe Montana 16 Patrick Mahomes 15 Peyton Manning 14 Steve Young 14 John Elway 14 Terry Bradshaw 14 Ben Roethlisberger 13 Brett Favre 13 Roger Staubach 13 Aaron Rodgers 12 Troy Aikman 11 Until Kirk Cousins actually wins games in the playoffs, he will forever have that question mark on his career because that is really all that matters long term for a QB. Jimmy Garoppolo, as if he is the standard? You do know that team plays the last pick in the NFL draft at QB currently and even he is doing great... It is an amazing offensive system that is loaded with talent, yes a QB can succeed there and win despite not being a great player with that head coach. Kirk Cousins does not have the luxury of playing for the San Francisco 49ers, and the Atlanta Falcons are not the San Francisco 49ers. Give me Goff being six years younger and not coming off a Achilles tear.
