Moretti's Final Mock 2024

Recommended Posts

First round, No. 25 overall

Duke image Graham Barton, OT/G/C, Duke
Height: 6-5. Weight: 313.
Projected 40 Time: 5.30.
Projected Round (2024): 1-2.

4/6/24: Some pro sources said their teams are projecting Barton to move inside to guard in the NFL. They noted that Barton plays with short arms and his body type could fit better on the inside. He also has anchor issues with stopping speed to power. Pro evaluators said they like how Barton is physical, nasty and strong in the ground game.

Second round, No. 41 overall (from Jets)

Texas A&M image Edgerrin Cooper*, ILB, Texas A&M
Height: 6-3. Weight: 230.
40 Time: 4.51.
Projected Round (2024): 1-2.

3/16/24: Cooper impressed team sources in 2023, showing explosive speed and athleticism. They noted that while Cooper is not as natural in coverage, he is a beast in the ground game. In 2023, he totaled 83 tackles, eight sacks, two forced fumbles, zero interceptions and a pass batted.

Second round, No. 58 overall

Georgia image Javon Bullard*, CB/S, Georgia
Height: 5-10. Weight: 198.
40 Time: 4.47.
Projected Round (2024): 2-3.

4/6/24: Bullard notched 56 tackles, two interceptions and five passes broken up in 2023. He played well despite being banged up.

Third round, No. 88 overall

Tennessee image Jaylen Wright, RB, Tennessee
Height: 5-11. Weight: 210.
Projected 40 Time: 4.52.
Projected Round (2024): 3-4.

3/30/24: Wright is put together well, but he showed some quickness in 2023 while averaging 7.4 yards per carry for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns on only 137 carries. He caught 22 passes for 141 yards. Wright could rise with strong workouts leading up to the 2024 NFL Draft.

Third round, No. 91 overall (from Bills)

Michigan image Zak Zinter, G, Michigan
Height: 6-6. Weight: 309.
Projected 40 Time: 5.20.
Projected Round (2024): 3-4.

4/6/24: Zinter was a very good starting right guard for Michigan in 2023. He was a steady pass protector and a key contributor as a run blocker. In the regular-season finale against Ohio State, Zinter suffered a broken tibia and a broken fibula. He is already recovering from the surgery to repair the breaks. Zinter broke into the starting lineup at right guard and locked down the position over the remaining time with the Wolverines. He has starting potential for the NFL.

Fourth round, No. 125 overall

Washington State image Brennan Jackson, DE, Washington State
Height: 6-4. Weight: 264.
40 Time: 4.69.
Projected Round (2024): 3-5.

3/16/24: Jackson was a dangerous edge defender for the Cougars in 2023, totaling 8.5 sacks, 57 tackles and three passes batted. In 2022, he notched 41 tackles and six sacks. He recorded 46 tackles and five sacks in 2021. Jackson has quality size and could be a nice sleeper prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Fifth round, No. 168 overall (compensatory)

Missouri image Jaylon Carlies, S, Missouri
Height: 6-3. Weight: 227.
40 Time: 4.50.
Projected Round (2024): 5-7.

4/6/24: Carlies is a big safety who runs well for his size. He could be a candidate to move to Will – weakside – linebacker. In 2023, Carlies totaled 64 tackles, two interceptions and four passes defended. He had three interceptions in 2022 and four picks in 2021. Carlies is a mid-round sleeper for the 2024 NFL Draft who has some upside.

Sixth round, No. 201 overall

Florida International image Donovan Manuel, ILB, Florida International
Height: 6-1. Weight: 230.
Projected 40 Time: 4.90.
Projected Round (2024): 4-6.

3/16/24: Manuel was a tackling machine in 2023, racking up 121 tackles and three passes broken up while also doing a superb job of creating turnovers with five forced fumbles. He could be a mid-round steal given his instincts and playmaking ability.

Sixth round, No. 219 overall (compensatory)

Utah image Devaughn Vele, WR, Utah
Height: 6-4. Weight: 203.
40 Time: 4.47.
Projected Round (2024): 5-7.

3/30/24: Vele is a big receiver who offers a size mismatch, but he could struggle to separate from NFL cornerbacks. In 2023, Vele caught 43 passes for 593 yards and three touchdowns. During 2022, he recorded 55 catches for 695 yards and five scores.

Seventh round, No. 245 overall

Illinois image Tip Reiman, TE, Illinois
Height: 6-5. Weight: 271.
40 Time: 4.64.
Projected Round (2024): 5-7.

3/30/24: Reiman is a Y – blocking – tight end for the NFL with quality size. In 2023, he caught 19 passes for 203 yards and three touchdowns. He had similar numbers in 2022 (19-174-1), but he brought value to the Illini as a blocker. Reiman worked out well at the combine to help himself.

Seventh round, No. 255 overall (compensatory)

Auburn image Justin Rogers, DT, Auburn
Height: 6-3. Weight: 346
Projected 40 Time: 5.33.
Projected Round (2024): 6-FA.

3/16/24: In 2023, Rogers totaled 17 tackles and one sack. He is a heavy lane plugger at the point of attack. Team sources said Rogers practiced well at the East-West Shrine, but he did not play with the same motivation in college and has issues with keeping his weight in check.

I like it as well.  Wished you had taken a real tackle prospect, as I'm not sure about Barton there.

With this draft, you took two guys who can start right away inside on the OL.

Loved Cooper.

You got the speed back.

Bullard is going to be a Packer, cuz Georgia.

And you got depth.

It's like a lot of mocks that I've run.  It ain't sexy, but it is solid.  Kind of like how @Norm used to like his women.

Moretti, nice draft.  But, draft is still 15 days away!  Must this really be your FINAL mock draft?

Still time for one more, no?

Maybe you can talk me into one more…..
