The principal names have been Wanya Morris and Kingsley Suamataia with an occasional nod to Lucas Niang. Chukwuebuka "Chu" Godrick was our international developmental player last year. He's from Nigeria and had zero experience with American football when he started last year. It appears that he has learned a lot. Also mentioned is UDFA Ethan Driskell. https://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/chiefs_ol_coach_andy_heck_gives_surprising_update_on_key_position_battle_at_otas/s1_17313_40424052 More on Chu from last summer. https://atozsports.com/kansas-city/kansas-city-chiefs-jason-chu-godrick-international-first-football-game-preseason-week-1/ Let's be serious - this is between Wanya and Kingsley ... and if the team doesn't feel comfortable with either after minicamp - they will sign sign a vet prior to training camp - and go from there. Don't discard Niang because he won the job once. He could not stay healthy one quarter but he won the job. Godrick appears to be much better than expected but he's still just potential depth. One clear thing is that the team is not panicking. Maybe Godrick or Niang has the secret sauce, but things look good as we move to summer. https://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/chiefs_feel_good_about_offensive_tackle_depth_during_otas/s1_16631_40431151 Edited June 1 by onejayhawk

onejayhawk
Chamari Conner, a 2023 draftee, made an All-Breakout team. The first two safety slots are manned by Justin Reid and Bryan Cook. Conner is moving into the third safety slot vacated by Mike Edwards. While technically a backup, the Chiefs play a lot of nickel defenses. Bot the CB3 and S3 get playing time. Since Conner has good coverage skills, he may draw significant slot time, freeing CB Trent McDuffie to play boundary CB. https://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/chamarri_conner_makes_2024_all_breakout_team_list/s1_16631_40488732

Jaden Hicks, the rookie, looks like a tailor-made dimebacker. Run a screen against him and Conner and someone will get hurt.
