Is this complete BS?

Lets rewind a few weeks ago, week 13 just ended and some dude in my money league drops the Ravens defense. For absolutely no reason at all. He didn't pick anyone up, he just left his bench 1 short that week. This guy I believe at the time was 5-8 and clearly out of the playoff hunt.

We don't have a FAAB in this league (talking about getting that next year) and instead we just do waiver order. and the dude who already clinched a playoff spot had the #1 claim at the particular time, so of course he picked up the Ravens defense who had cake match ups during the fantasy playoffs vs the Browns and vs Indy.

As soon as that happened, I flipped out. I messaged the group chat saying how I thought it was complete BS and how I wanted it flipped back. But I seemed to be the only one that really cared about it, cuz no one else other than one guy said anything at all. When I messaged the guy who dropped the Ravens defense, his response was..."no use to me" .....like wtf is that?

So fast forward to this week, the dude is in the playoffs and wins by 8 points, because the damn Ravens defense got him nearly 30 points. So this dude is in the championship game with odds looking pretty good he'll get to brag to everyone he's a 2x champion in this league and win a cool $1,000 all off a BS drop that should of never happened. And I know there are random dumb drops by owners all throughout the year, but I think this is totally different. Dude was 5-8 and dropped like the #1 defense in fantasy and didn't even pick up anyone.

What do you think?

Yeah, that is absolutely ridiculous. Especially given the circumstances. And I can't believe no one else made a big deal out of it with that kind of money on the line. We had a similar situation in my league right before the trade deadline where two teams agreed to a trade that was so lopsided, every member of the league complained to the commish. The guy who was on the bad side of the trade basically said "I am giving up". Not a keeper league, so its not like he was getting anything for next season. Anyways, it was such a big deal that the two teams had to rework the trade.

As for your situation, since it's been a few weeks going, I don't know what you guys can do about it. I just would act like an a-hole myself and talk about an asterisk on the season or things like that.

Is it sketchy? Yes.  Is it something that I would want to force the league's hand about? Probably not. As you alluded to, people make weird decisions like this all the time. I've dropped numerous people this year who are starting on other people's teams, and I didn't do it for any readily transparent reason.  I just think that it's a slippery slope. Then people deciding who you can and cannot drop throughout the year for no reason, it turns into a nightmare, and the league is no fun and it probably blows up. Trades start getting vetoed because one person doesn't want another team improving even if it's an even trade. It just turns into a lot of bad blood. If this is the first time, I probably mention it and say how you feel, but don't press the issue. But I always remember. If something like this happens again with either of the two people, that's when something should probably be done or I make the decision to bow out of the league the following year.

I am dealing with a similar situation.. I'm entering the championships 9-5 against a guy who is 5-7-1 and he is one spot above me on the waiver wire.. the guy who I bounced from the playoffs last week just dropped Jordan Howard yesterday and he is surely to pick him up.. This is an old work league with a bunch of guys I use to work with, they still work together and am convinced there is collusion going on. Don't really know how to approach it as the guy who dropped Howard is the commish

That's really bad. I'd be so heated. You shouldn't be able to drop a guy like that during the playoffs unless he's on IR or just busted.

to me all of the above situations are collusion unless proven otherwise

I agree, I'd say something and leave the league(s). If they allow it once it'll happen again.
