Bruh. You gotta put a warning before you post this. Now I need to explain to my coworker why my eyes are welling up.

True story, but I haven't rewatched Game 7 yet.  Even knowing that it all turned out glorious, I don't know if my blood pressure can handle it again.

I haven't either. Might do it this weekend though if my girlfriend is up for it (I'd bet she is, she's a bigger Cubs fan than I am), I've got an itch to watch it again.

Marry her.  Marry her right now.

You're not the first to tell me that when I've brought up her fandom.

My wife is fully on board now, but it took me a few years of having to suffer through the "why do you have to watch every Cubs game?" and "it seriously sometimes feels like you like the Cubs more than me" before we got to this point.

I'll be taking a nap and get woken up by her celebrating after a Javy tag. So that's something.

Nice.  But that nap was in 2014, right?  No excuse to be napping during a game since then.

Usually before a game and get woken up in the first two innings over something.

It's so refreshing to see the city be finally playing like the Cubs again.  Keep it rolling.

Ivkeep seeing things connecting the Cubs to Alex Avila.  Is it just the veteran catcher aspect, or is there something else they're looking for in him?

That's pretty much it.  They need a veteran presence that can handle the pitching staff and give Willy a breather or two.  Avila is actually too good to be a straight backup right now, but Willy is absolutely on fire at the plate and is only getting better behind it.  His past month's worth of games: .341/.400/.659, 172 wRC+
