onejayhawk
As camp gets rolling, let's discuss the objective. The last NFL threepeat extends before the merger, so we don't usually count it. Still, three championships in a row has been done, just not in the last 50 years. The thing about 2023 that got my attention is that Pat Mahomes said it was not as much fun. I get that. We won with a defense and ball-control approach because we had to do it that way. It worked, but it wasn't fun. This year looks to be different. A few points As good as the defense was, it did not turn the ball over (bottom 5). We led the league in dropped passes leading to Mahomes worst year as a starting QB The OL had problems all the way through Except for Butker, ST were weak Major defensive losses in L'Jarius Sneed, Willie Gay, Mike Edwards, and Charles Omenihu is out for the first On the other side Attitude looks better this offseason We added a LOT of speed to the WR room The defense has bodies--Bryan Cook is back and Nick Bolton will play a full season, Chamari Conner has promise, FAU will get a serious look, and Leo Chenal looks ready to break out LT is open, Joe Thuney is hurt, Nick Allegretti is gone, but the OL looks better ST is replacing Thompson but the prospects look outstanding and some of the best gunners are healthy again

onejayhawk
If you think of what it took to get these two championships--back-to-back road win, Bolton's TD, KT's punt return, Sneed's punch-out, and so on. So many close games and so many clutch plays. For once, a no-doubter would be nice. Edited July 28 by onejayhawk
Chiefer
How good do we have it? I never thought in my lifetime we’d ever have a discussion about a 3-peat or Dynastic Chiefs. Heck one SB and I could’ve died happy 14 years ago. A good QB was what we prayed for, and we got The QB. And my dumbash said we should replace Reid lol. Emotional takes are dumb. No matter what happens this year we’ve had it so good after bottoming out in 2012.
onejayhawk
I think it would be tougher if either of the first two had been easy. Surviving the regular season and then clawing through a difficult postseason is not something that inspires complacency. If you want chapter and verse, look at Michael Irvin's comments about the loss to the 49ers in the 1994 NFC championship game. They came back to win in 1995 but it wasn't the same. We already had a game like that in SB LV.
EMAW_KSU
I still think the objective need to be focusing on one game at a time. Looking at the big picture is fine, but you eat an elephant 1 step at a time.

Don’t get me wrong one game at a time, but when you got Mahomes and Reid you can look ahead a little bit
mayanfootball
Super wins come with a reasonably healthy season. Cut down on injuries and the talent we've collected can do their work and shine us on !

With most previous two-time winners there was a dominant season followed by a good enough season. By the third year it was time to make major changes. Only the Cowboys of the 1990s had a core good enough to go three or more. As noted upthread, Michael Irvin talks about the 1994 postseason with deep regret. You don’t feel that last year was a good enough season for us? Our offense was barely existent multiple games, but luckily our defense was dominant. So we overhauled the offense. I just severely dislike the “we just gotta make it to the post season,” comments. And we’ve been very good, but we know better than anyone a couple key injuries along the line, or a big offside penalty at the wrong moment can end it. Yes the obvious goal is, win it all, which means a 3peat. It would be ludicrous to assume our team thought otherwise. Are you saying we should feel confident because of our dominance last season? I feel the opposite. We pulled out a win when the regular season said we were overmatched. He claims there are a lot of miles left but he is also looking at a nice career in entertainment. This one has three reasons to believe--We're better than last year, Mahomes is death in the playoffs, and the other contenders may have taken a step back. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/chiefs-first-team-win-three-straight-super-bowls-mahomes/4b36fd6d724067b1ac6f21f2
