It’s basically a 2 year deal for $29M with only 1 year guaranteed. Seems like a fairly reasonable contract.

Yea, essentially the way I understand it, it's $29M in new money, and the $16M of this years deal was GTD and redistributed for cap reasons to the remainder of the contract. It's good in that it's a win/win if he declines/retires the dead money hit is really reasonable, and if he plays like he has lately it's a steal.

I still wouldn’t have done it but the deal isn’t as bad as I originally thought it would be.

The best estimates of it are creating $9.6 mill in cap room this year and him being on the team through 2025 where he could easily Be cut after 2025 and saving $15 mill and eating $4.9 in dead $$$.

Mixed Feelings.  Big Time.  He was great back in the day, and he seems to be a great dude.  But if his production is 1/3 the amount of cap space used for him, that's not good.  He's not the player he used to be.  Not even half.

I'd disagree that isn't half the player he once was and he is just 6% of our total cap.

There, imo, is a significantly noticeable difference between when he is and is not on the field and it IS better when he is out there.

I'm trying to really wrap my mind around all of this. He's still a top 10 IDL in the NFL, one of the top run stuffers, and a high level pass rusher. Last year was this first year in a while since he was in the high 80's low 90's on a PFF grade and he played a majority of the season on one leg.

Careful now, you're spewing way too many FACTS!

The thing is, I was watching the BTSC podcast show last night and man, there were a few fans that were really against this extension and I just don't get it.

The same people would've been furious if we had, hypothetically, cut him or traded him. He is still a force to be reckoned with. To me this was never about money for Cam it was about being wanted and wanting to be here. Maybe I'm wrong, that's just the way i see it

Woulda been fine with trading him or cutting him long as the $$$ saved woulda been used on a younger piece.

The contract is better than what I anticipated….hes easily cuttable after the 2025-26 season.
