Omg ok for you guys who doesn't understand how hard of a throw that was from Dak to Turpin -

The timing has to be perfect or you allow the DB a chance. The placement needs to be perfect or Turpin is out of bounds.

To place a deep down the middle throw in the BACK SHOULDER of a receiver up the hash with the back of the end zone playing as a second defender is incredible football.

Outstanding throw. One of the top 5 throws of Daks career.

Wow. Wow.

I know this is probably the first time many of you have EVER seen this but Dak put up meaningless stats after getting blown out.  #Dak time

This is absolutely silly. The offense almost got the ball back simply down 3 late in the 4th with the best kicker in the NFL. A majority of the game his O-line was getting him killed. You’re being disingenuous in implying that the offensive output was meaningless.

Thought Diggs rounded his closure on that pass instead of planting and driving.

Meh, it was a bit of a combination of things in rewatching it. First and foremost it was a terrific route by the slot receiver to drive the extra DB to the inside and away from the play. The hip fake he gave baited Diggs as well, and gave him more field to cover. It was great patience by Jackson who could have fired the ball earlier but risked an incompletion. It was good blocking by their RT who was beat off the snap but recovered with a solid punch to keep Jackson clean. And then yes, almost a deflated attempt by Diggs who knew he was beat. He might have gotten there a bit sooner otherwise. But it was unlikely to make a difference. The moment the slot receiver hit that hip fake and drove all the DBs. Including Diggs. A step further inside. It was lights out for Dallas on the day.

Yeah i agree here

@The_Slamman my man..

Yes there have been times Dak inflated his numbers against prevention 4 and 5 deep shell defenses late in blow outs. But this wasn't one of them. The B-more Defense continues to play their tight zones and swarming style, physical at the line of scrimmage and physical off the line as well. And the team nearly rallied to an overtime bout keeping Jackson on the sideline.

This was not a case of padded stats against a team trying to prevent big plays. This was a case of an offense firing back late in a game and actually getting the ball up the field. There were 2 big plays underneath, but those were the result of their receiver shaking their coverage and not a lack of coverage underneath. Beyond those 2 plays, everything was down the field. That throw to Turpin in the end zone is maybe one of the top throws in the NFL of the last 3 or 4 years. Insanely difficult and takes outstanding accuracy and timing. And then to go back shoulder to keep the DB out of the play? Any offensive coach would be mentally masturbating themselves in hopes of it working as smoothly as that did when you draw it up on the board.

The team legitimately played themselves back into the game - it wasn't padded stats against a 5 deep, zero under situation like we have seen a few times over the years.

Anybody else missing Dan Quinn yet?  It’s basically same sus defense that can’t stop the run… just without leading the NFL in TOs.

DQ defense struggled against the run because they played to pressure at all costs. This Zimmer D is struggling to stop the run because it's tasking DBs meant for man coverage to play gap control

But the biggest difference is that they can't cover now either. DQ mixed in zones and played a ton of hybrid stuff. But it was a very man heavy defense with Diggs. bland. Lewis. Even Wilson! All faring very well in 1 on 1 coverage situations and doing quite well tackling in the open field against receivers ... But playing them in zone so often and expecting them to play equal parts against the run is like trying to tell Tom Brady to run a triple option or Lamar Jackson to throw 35 times from under center. It isn't what they do and it's a terrible idea.
