Christmas Eve Mock

Recommended Posts

RD1. OLB Clelin Ferrell 6'5 266: Powerful. Quick. Very strong hands. Variety of pass rush moves to win. Insanely good motor. Very passionate. Can play the run as well as he rushes the passer.

RD2. ILB Rashaan Evans 6'3 235: Excellent blitzer. Powerful hands to stack and shed blockers. Great tackler who stones RBs. Versatile to play all LB positions and rush the passer. Very smart player. Solid in pass coverage. Younger Navarro Bowman type skills.

RD3. TE Dallas Goedert 6'4 260: Powerful. Passionate. Soft hands and good concentration to make contested catches. Speed. Perfect fit for the Steelers.

RD4. WR Anthony Miller 5'11 190: Speed. Feisty. Very good route runner. Makes contested catches. This dude looks and plays like Antonio Brown and would be a perfect player for the Steelers.

RD5. S/CB Siran Neal 6'1 205: Solid tackler. Big hitter. Has good ball skills. Can play off or press. Scheme diverse and can play S or CB. Small school prospect but big talent.

RD7.  TE/ATH Jaylen Samuels 5'11 223: Specialist. TE with RB size so expect a switch at the next level. Can do everything football related at a high level. Size is only weakness and Samuels is an excellent route runner from the HB position.

Good mock, Armsteeld.  Love the first three.  Have been thinking we need one of those big hybrids that can line up in different spots and bully OL to the QB.  Evans has elite closing burst.  He doesn't look as big as advertised but the guy hits like a truck and plays with a fierce attitude.  Goedert would be a great move TE for us.

I fell in love with Clelin while scouting Mackensie Alexander. Dude does it all at a high level but probably won't be the best underwear athlete.

why are we targeting the linebackers...?

Watt is a work in progress.  Dupree should never have been drafted by us.  Wasted frame with limited talent.  Shazier is hurt and hopefully career ending (I say that in the nicest way).  Shazier should retire as his style of play will lead to another catastrophic injury.  Shazier leads with his helmet and too often the crown which leaves the spine open to way too much punishment/damage.

Shazier looks like a long-shot to ever play again.  Dupree is not developing into the dominant EDGE player many of us had hoped for.  Depth is an issue for both inside and out.

is shazier even walking yet and what is the most recent news about his recovery? Dupree is a RD1 bust IMO, more like a mid round wrt production.  We have had mid and late RD player more effective. Watt is already better IMO

Watt is definitely better.  I didn't like the Dupree pick but I hoped that with that size and athleticism, the coaching staff could shape him into a good player.  That's why I suggested he get moved inside.  Maybe that would suit him better and if so, would solve another problem.

If they actually play like that regularly it looks pretty damn solid to me.  Never heard of most of them, but I liked what I see and the positions works.  I'd prefer another DB though.

Haden, Burns (disappointing so far this season), Hilton, Sutton, and Allen made it hard to find one but I love Jaire Alexander, kid from Iowa, slot guy from Florida #7, and guy from Auburn. Sorry but can't remember all the names right now.

Only thing I wouldnt like is TE in 3rd.  James is underrated and underutilized.  He is upgradable, but I doubt any 3rd rounder would be a notable upgrade.

Also, if Bell leaves, RB becomes a big need.

Have you watched his highlight reel of Goedert?  You might change your mind.

I guess my biggest issue is that we don't seem to use our TEs enough....in large part because we have so many other weapons.  If we lose Bell, something might change, but there are only so many balls to go around....and I think we have much bigger needs.  Our safties are complete garbage, Ben is near the end, and Bell might be gone.  If TE is by far the best value, okay.  I just dont think TE is a top need at this point.

Fair enough.  I agree the TEs have not been used for maximum effect.  But one of the reasons is, we don't have that difference maker on the roster.  I like James and McDonald for different reasons, but having a big-time pass catching TE might be that weapon that will open up the rest of the offense on a more frequent basis.
