Offensive Game Plan:

Formations:
3 Wide (55%)
4 Wide (15%)
12 Personnel (15%)
21 Personnel (15%)

Breakdown:
55/45 Pass/Run

Plan of attack:

Exploit cornerback vulnerability: Use speedster receivers to stretch the field and challenge Johnson and Ward in man coverage

Attack the edges: Use quick passes and zone runs to exploit potential weaknesses at linebacker and allow receivers to use their speed and Barkley to get outside and use his agility

Utilize tight ends: Target the middle of the field to create mismatches for our TEs and RBs

Mix up tempo: Combine quick snaps with methodical drives to keep the defense guessing, go quick after first downs to keep whatever defense is on the field and attack their vulnerability

Run to set up pass: Establish a ground game to open up play-action and RPO opportunities.

We look at a 55/25/20 split with Barkley/Conner/Allen

In our 21 personnel we want to get Barkley and Allen on the field together

Jonnu is our TE2 in 12 Personnel and we will look to move him around presnap.

Lamb moves to X when in any 2 WR sets

Combo Routing utilizing various skill sets of our pass catchers. Pittman’s size as a possession weapon, Diggs agility at Z and Lambs overall balance in the slot. They don’t have the corner talent to neutralize our wideouts

Defensive Game Plan:

Formations:
Base Nickel- Against 3 Wide
Dime- Against 4 Wide
5-2- Against heavy sets
4-3- Against 2TE or 2RB
Coverage:
Mix of primarily 2 High Shell Man and Cover 3. More Cover 3 and even some cover 6 when in Dime

Plan of attack:

Pressure Prescott: Employ creative blitzes and edge rushers to disrupt timing, make him uncomfortable

Contain Cook: Assign a spy at times to monitor Cook's cutback lanes and limit big runs.

Double Godwin: Use increased bracket coverage to limit Godwin's impact.

Protect against tight ends: utilize nickle back (first option) then safeties (second option) against the tight ends to limit their ability to get open in the passing game

Load the box: Stuff the run with 4-3 on running plays and force Prescott to beat us through the air.

Svalbard Miners

Motivation: After a close loss on the road we look to bounce back at Home versus a tough divisional opponent in Greenland. Every division win matters so we will try and trap the Polar Bears this week at Ice Station Zebra.

Offensive Strategy

Scheme:  Pass (50%) vs Run (50%)
Formations:    2 TE (55%) / 3 WR (35%)/ 2 RB (10%)

Blocking - Our starting five are healthy and should be able to protect Dak and give him a clean pocket to work with while opening lanes up for the running game. Edwards is the Jumbo OL with Patrick backing up the interior. We will look for Smith or Campbell to blitz and have a RB ready for the pickup.

Rushing - Dak has one of the better running games to balance out his passing prowess. James Cook is our lead back (20 touches). Kyren Williams is the better pass protector and scorer, so gets 3rd down and goal line duties. We will have plays with both of them on the field with Williams lined up in the slot. Our interior line is a strength in the running game and we look to pound it up the middle on inside zone looks on some WAO (Wow!) plays due to the gaping holes opened. Ray Davis gets a series to keep both fresh. Turpin gets in on a Jet Sweep/Toss as he is dangerous when given touches.

Passing - Because of lingering injuries, 12 Personnel is on the menu again, with LaPorta as TE1 looking to get yards on quick outs to the flat as the other receivers clear out space. Parkinson as TE2 will provide a safety valve for Dak after chipping his Edge. Schultz and Stover are their backups and keep our TE heavy offense rolling.

Pre snap misdirection and Motion with Attitude (55%) to keep them guessing. Dak will look to continue to protect the ball but will take his shots against the Polar Bear rookie Safety. Their deep secondary is thin this week with Poyer out.

Chris Godwin and Gabe Davis  will start at WR in this offense. Davis will mostly be used to lure a defender out of their short to intermediate area on post and go routes so our other guys can attack that part of the field. If they are mainly playing zone we will look to get Godwin matched up on Porter Jr. who is allowing more catches than Lattimore and will feed him. Nailor and Turpin will rotate in to keep our guys fresh.

Defensive Strategy

With the TITE front we are looking to take away the inside zone running lanes and force things outside to our fast chasing LBs and DBs. This one-gap aggressive defense is designed to attack and disrupt offenses. With our scheme we are able to set the terms of engagement more often than most against opposing offenses, particularly with good communication and command of the scheme by the players.

Formation: 3-4 TITE / 4-2-5 Big Nickel
Tite_front_1_gap.png
DL - Cam Heyward and Zach Allen shoot their gaps to close those lanes and collapse the pocket around Baker. In our nickel formation they will move inside in an Even front. Keeanu Benton will again be “tilting” against their rookie Center to cause havoc. JFM and Godchaux rotate in to keep that inside pressure continuous.

LB - We welcome back one of our defensive stalwarts in Uchenna Nwosu to help compound our constant pressure rate against opposing QBs. He will battle against another rookie OL from the Polar Bears in this game. Greenard will continue his hot start for us and give Mayfield little time to process the field.

Greenland has strength at RB so Cashman will spy on Barkley/Conner  to limit YAC on anything in his mid-hook area but also continue to pressure as needed. Kaden Ellis has coverage for their TE Kmet but also will look for Baker to scramble and run the ball. Zach Baun has been a key depth piece in this defense and lined up in multiple spots. WMD snaps will increase this week as a Pass Rush Specialist on about 20 snaps. Collins will give us depth to combat what we think will be a heavy run oriented offense today.

The Blitz - Simulated Pressure Delayed blitz and stunts are the forte of this aggressive defense (46%). Baker won’t be able to  read where it will be coming from as our Nickel, LBs and CBs all can rush well.

Secondary - Cover 2 Style Shell (Roll and Invert), Cover 4 (Quarters)

Jaylon Johnson and Mooney Ward have a high Lockdown Percentage versus whichever WR they have to defend against. Quentin Lake is the STAR (Nickel) and will cover Lamb on underneath routes and prevent any quick crossers in his area. Isaiah Simmons takes over the MONEY (Dime) role if they go 4 WR.

DeShon Elliott and Kam Curl will be the two high safeties on deep routes over the top. Forcing a lot of underneath throws we will be able to have our guys swarm to their receivers and limit YAC. Alohi Gilman is the 3rd Safety this week

Chatgpt is back

**Winner: Svalbard Miners**

**Reasoning:**
The Svalbard Miners' defensive game plan, with its aggressive one-gap TITE front and varied blitz schemes, is well-suited to neutralize Greenland’s offense. They aim to take away inside running lanes while applying constant pressure on Mayfield. With Cam Heyward and Zach Allen attacking the interior, Mayfield is likely to face difficulty processing the field under duress, and the coverage matchups favor Svalbard's defense, with their corners able to limit Greenland’s WRs. On the other side, Svalbard's balanced run/pass offense and effective use of motion will allow Prescott to exploit Greenland's weaknesses in the secondary and sustain drives.

I like Svalbard's 12 Personnel approach against a defense starting a fella like Calen Bullock. Greenland is countering with a 4-3 alignment and tasking safeties - one being Bullock - to cover the TEs, which I think gives a significant advantage to Svalbard's offense. It also seems like Svalbard is (appropriately) gameplanning against Barkley, and that their alignment should help to limit his damage. Give me Svalbard in a controlled 21-17 win.

I feel like Greenland had a great gameplan on both sides of the ball this week. They're 100% right that Svalbard don't have the corner depth to cover all their receivers, and Mayfield is playing really well to start the year. Svalbard wants to redirect the Greenland run game to the outside which...is exactly where Greenland says they want to run anyways. Svalbard's base defense is very nasty and doesn't have an obvious weakness, but Greenland is either taking them out of that alignment or having their slot receiver eating well.

Going with Greenland as they start putting things together going into the midseason.

Whoot will elements of my last week gameplan (this part was word for word) lead them to a second win?

Quentin Lake, until this year, was the Rams Nickle Corner that is why he plays the STAR (Nickel) Role in my defense. Just like Brian Branch does when healthy. They are just flexible and also play Safety and can also matchup against TE as well as WR. That is what my defense is designed to do.

Isaiah Simmons actually plays the MONEY (Dime) role for the Giants. If you look at articles on him going into this season the front office and DC has all said he's the MONEY verbatim.

I know I am boned if either Johnson or Ward go down but both play 100% of their snaps so I choose a different way to cover the nickel/dime.

You can play those guys wherever you want, that doesn’t mean I think they’re good at it.

This is actually a really good matchup.

Svalbard DL is terrifying and they do have a significant edge, particularly inside, over Greenland OL. But I've really liked what I saw from Baker pocket presence this year, I think he improved specifically in this area so far this year. And the quick game plan to target the edge of the defense is really the way to attack this defense I feel. I also have some doubts on Svlabard secondary (Curl, Lake and even Ward honestly) so I'm kinda high on Greenland offense this week - to a certain extent ofc because of that DL.

On the other end, I do like Svalbard running game. I don't know if going 12 tremendously helps them because Greenland has depth at LB, but they do clearly need Edge depth and I think at some point Walker and Landry (the latter who isn't the greatest run defender to begin with) get gassed. I would definitely claim an edge rusher if I were Pickle this week. I do think Svalbard passing game is very limited this week, but with double coverage on Godwin and blitzes, that may leave an opportunity for a big play to Gabe Davis at some point who might have a statline like 1/49.

It's a really really good game. As I'm typing this, I was prepared to give it to Svalbard at home but it didn't feel right. I think Greenland has maybe a little bit more firepower on both sides on the ball to prevent Svalbard comeback. Greenland 24 - Svalbard 21
