If he is icing everything <47 and beats the rap in court and the court of public opinion, really no reason to cut him. Let’s just see the season play out but I’d be pretty happy not shifting the game plan and especially our 2 min offense because a moderate fg is not dependable. Lambeau is not an easy place to kick and will get harder every week this season but if he can be league average, that’s still a huge upgrade. Our offense is dangerous enough that we don’t have to settle for 3s but sometimes you need one.

He's also 33 which, while not especially old for a kicker, still means his best seasons are behind him.  I think it's likely they pick up a rookie kicker in the offseason and try again.

Whatever it takes. But if he’s making them and the team is comfortable with him as a person, they might not be so quick to jump back on the rollercoaster.

Lol they tried that route in 2023 lol.  Needless to say it didn't work out

I doubt he's going to be the Packers' kicker long-term, but any time the guy you had in house leads the league in "missed field goals" you kind of have to do stuff like this.

So without looking whatever happened to Anders Carlson? Did he at least make your practice squad?

He’ll be kicking this week for the 9ers after their 2nd kicker got taken out making a tackle. They hope to get their first stringer back in a few weeks but seems like they need to work on that ST coverage so their kicker isn’t playing safety.

Or see if one of their positional guys can do good kickoffs.

I mean, kickers play well into their late 30s.  If the Packers get 3-4 years of good production out of McManus and there are no off-the-field hiccups, I'd consider this a smashing success.

There were reasons the broncos let him go and a reason the jags left him go(was before the lawsuit) and a reason the commanders cut him.

9 seasons in Denver seems like success, but who am I to judge.

Pardon me if I don't let stellar franchises like Denver, Jacksonville and Washington mandate what a mid-tier franchise like the Green Bay Packers do.
