rlon
As per these statistical measures, our 3 best defensive players thus far this year are: 1. TJ Watt (not surprising) 2. Cam Heyward (not surprising) 3. Nick Herbig (no comment)

MOSteelers56
I've almost gotten to the point where I disregard PFF whole cloth. I think someone can "prove" any point they want by looking at the analytics. Seeing how well Cam is playing, really sinks home to me how much we need to draft his replacement, and how it'll probably take a 1st to do it. Unless we get lucky with a Tuitt 2.0 situation where a freakish dude slips due to injury. Even if Benton steps up, I still want more hogs up front for the defense. Especially with the Steelers preference in running a rotation on the DL, we need to get at least 1 more guy this off season.

Yeah, the defense isn't playing as well as we expected, to a degree, but they definitely can't afford a big drop off from Cam when the time comes. I've actually been pretty pleased with the defense. I'm not expecting 08, though. I think this is the defense Tomlin likes. He wants to play in the nickel and get takeaways and sacks. We're prone to get run on because of that, which is how Indy killed us in the first half. I think my expectations are just tempered.

Most of the rankings are pretty in line with what people on this board have seen on the field, but I agree that these ratings are not an end all at all. The same thing that happens whenever any defense plays a great QB, they get picked apart. They just have to hope to get a couple takeaways and that our own offense can score enough to keep up.
