mdonnelly21
Lamar is having his best statistical season even given he won 2 MVPs but I think it helps having the best pure rusher of the last decade on his team. I will say on the flip side though, Henry is also severely benefiting from having Lamar. But I do think it hurts his case a little bit in terms of MVP. Derrick Henry has to be in the top 2-3 ATM. A few other considerations, Jared Goff and Pat Mahomes and that's about it. And Mahomes is a distant 4th right now, and has to go on an absolute tear the rest of the season to even have a legit conversation.
General Tso
Yes they do cannibalize each other's "importance" on the offense

Pat isn't in the MVP conversation in the slightest, not even 4th. Probably will be for SB MVP but not regular season.
11sanchez11
For sure. Also that he's won 2 already.
El Ramster
Absolutely not. Hell break his foot in 3 weeks and derail the regular season ravens. It’s what he’s done. There’s a lot of miles in that body. Baja miles to be exact. Edited October 26 by El Ramster
starman
Mahomes isn't in the conversation at all.
AngusMcFife
If the Ravens are still averaging 7.2 yards per play at the end of the year the the Ravens should win all the awards. It could be the greatest offense in NFL history.
Soko
It hurts but only when splitting hairs, IMO. Like, I’m not gonna put him (today) below Jordan Love because of Henry. But it might come into play if Josh Allen picks things up a bit, because I don’t really think all that much of the players the Bills have. Being logically consistent, we see guys get knocked all the time for the players they’re playing with. But also being consistent, we just saw Lamar win it last year - so we know it’s not like Lamar’s just a good QB playing with this great running back. Also, most of the top QBs have pretty good or stacked weapons. It’s pretty mixed up to this point, but I’d say if the season ended today that Lamar should win it. Sidenote: Mahomes has no business in the MVP consideration at this time.
diamondbull424
MVP convo should be Lamar, Allen, and Goff IMO. I’d say Henry could be 4th in the race. Only way he should have a legit chance at it would be if god forbid Lamar goes down an extended period and Henry leads the Ravens to a top seed while breaking the rushing record. But Henry should win the OPOY if things continue as current. Beyond that I think Henry dominating actually increases Lamar’s chances. Henry was on the “he might be washed” train before this year because of his downward trend in production. Now he’s got a career high in YPC after the age of 30. While simultaneously the RBs the Ravens had previous such as JK Dobbins and Gus both have seen their YPC numbers drop considerably while not playing with Lamar. Henry actually is PROVING that the Lamar effect is real. He provides a Shanahan level boost to a RB by playing next to him, whether it’s in a Roman offense or a Monken offense. At this point, you’ve got to attribute the Ravens pushing for the record of most consecutive 100 yd rushing games and potentially breaking the 70 Steelers (and their earlier streak) record streak as a Lamar value stat. So yeah, Henry dominating is actually value that I think you’ve got to attribute to Lamar. Same is true of Henry because he’s allowing Lamar to be even more efficient as well, but that’s why he’s the OPOY and Lamar the MVP… if things stand.
HerbertGOAT
Absolutely, though it's difficult for an RB to win MVP especially playing with a QB like Lamar. Right now MVP is Allen and I don't think it's particularly close.
bomont
Yeah QBs get an unfair edge overall. IMO if Henry cracks 2000 yds, it'd be dicey at best to give it to Jackson, even if Jackson continues to tear it up too.

No because MVP is a QB award that is reserved for whichever QB put up the best numbers for one of the four best teams in the league.

Lamar is currently on pace for: 4,400 passing yards | 36 TD | 4 INT 1,100 rushing yards | 5 TD He'd be the first QB in NFL history to pass for 4k+ and rush for 1k+ in the same season
Steelersfan43
Kurt Warner won 2 MVP with Marshall Faulk at his peak as RB,so this is still possible for Lamar. If it continue,Lamar would the MVP and Henry the offensive player of the year like the greatest show on turf era when both Warner and Faulk were healthy in 1999 and 2001.In 2000 Faulk won the MVP and OPOY with Warner missing 5 games
