Interested in seeing how we hold up with Myles Garret/how often we end up helping Bolles out.

Hoping we put the clamps on Jeudy in his return. Jeudy should be motivated and I am sure our defense would also like to keep him quiet.

Think we get the job done and win by two scores.

Browns have won 5 of the 8 regular season matchups (if you ignore 1975 through 2015).

Doesn't garret line up on the left side, opposite our RT?

Sorry but I'm an older guy. Why would I want to ignore 1975 through 2015? Considering all the changes both teams have gone through in the last 10 years the first 40 years of the last 50 are about as pertinent as the last 10.

Just curious, what size are your CB's? Reason I'm asking is outside of Mims the next 4 in our WR room are all 6'3" plus. This new kid, Vele, is 6'5" sneaky fast and hands like glue. Right now he's looking like a 7th round steal.

They move him around a bit but from what I have seen he lines up on the right side of the dline primarily. Admittedly I don’t watch a ton of browns football.

Because the Broncos won 22 of 24 in that time.

Good size minus Ward, who is the best cover guy.

The last time we could say we controlled our own destiny in  December was back in 2021. A win over the Bengals at home would have made us 8-6 and given us an inside track to the WC. Our offense fell apart and we lost the last 4 games.

I just don't see that happening this year.  Our D and ST's have, for the most part remained pretty solid and our O is improving weekly.  After a fairly sluggish performance in last weeks win I'd expect a pretty energized group on Monday night. Our last Prime Time game we took apart the Saints in NO. I'd bet Sean has this bunch fired up and ready to  go.

I’m a little surprised that no one has mentioned the fact that Sean knows Jameis’ strengths and weaknesses well, having coach him a couple/few years in New Orleans. I think that insight can/will be invaluable to our defense. Regardless of their offensive scheme. That in itself can give the Broncos the advantage. Just a thought.

I think the biggest issue in this game for us, is Miles Garrett, as a few have mentioned. Guy is a game wrecker, and at least in the top tear of pass rushers we’ve faced all year. Maybe at the top. He has to be kept in check at least a little bit, and we need to take care of the givens that lomax mentions each week. No game is easy for sure.

Good catch! I did notice this is his first year in a WC offense.

This is a fascinating matchup, more than the records suggest.

When we have the ball

CLE’s run D is a lot better than the numbers suggest.   Deshaun Watson’s O was league worst at 3 and outs and ToP - so the run D would wear out.   Because they play man D, they are prone to big plays - but that’s not our strength with both run or pass game.    So this could very well be a game we lean more on the pass game to get the O going.

When we pass - Myles Garrett is that guy.    And yes they move him around enough to cause more trouble than just having a guy chip him to offer help.    The lack of separators will be put to the test if he can get there.     The heavy man usage will really put the microscope on which of our guys can win 1 on 1.

When CLE has the ball

Even though they have Nick Chubb back the Browns run game continues to struggle.   Chubb is in that 12-18 month return window post-ACL where he doesn’t have the same explosion.    But the bigger issue is the CLE OL hasn’t been the normal top 5-10 unit we’ve seen in the past.   Injuries have taken a toll but they also clearly miss OLC Bill Callahan.

So the Browns are a pass-heavy O now and that’s the Jameis show.    He’s such a 3-true outcomes guy - he’ll hit the tight window / deep ball play with fearlessness but he also puts the ball in ham’s way.     He is also used to bad OL play from his TAM days (it’s why he’s relentless on that  funky “getting hit” training in offseason that went viral).   He’s made the OL far more functional than Watson was in his time as starter.

NGL for fantasy and pure entertainment he’s a fun guy to watch.   He’s one of 6-8 QB that can attack our D relentlessly.     But that sword cuts both ways.   We definitely have 4+ sack / 3-TO potential there.   It would be surprising if he didn’t make 3-4 TO-worthy plays (remember not every TO-worthy play results in a TO though).     Ultimately the lack of run game should make him more predictable.     But it’s a question of how much our big plays (sacks and TO’s) can overcome the chunk plays the Browns receivers can generate.

I expect PS2 on Jeudy so Elijah Moore, David Njoku, Jordan Akins (the sneaky TE2 to watch for with Cedric Tillman out) & Isaiah Ford as pass catching RB are the names to look out for this week.

Intangibles

We have a huge edge in ST - their K has missed so many FG they stopped trying 2 weeks ago and really shied away with the weather last week.     Our coverage and return units continue to play well.

With every game TO’s are so crucial but in a Jameis game it’s even more important.   Both D’s have sack and TO potential.

I agree with the notion that Payton knows Jameis well.     Deception can get Jameis - but the key will be getting pressure.   Still I’ll give the coaching nod to DEN here.

Ultimately I see a lower scoring game than fans are expecting because both teams D’s match up well against the opposition O’s, unless TO’s create short fields.    Whoever has the 4Q lead will have a massive advantage in trying to use the run game to wear out the other D.    Both D’s I expect will have success early on in forcing the pass game.    Then it’s a matter of getting to the QB while early coverage holds up.

I’ll call a 20-17 type game.   It should be far closer than the records suggest.   Looking forward to it my first day back in Canada lol.
