Improving the bowl season (New Years Day related)

I feel that Bowl season isn't what it used to be. Some will argue its because there are too many bowls, I don't really agree with that but I do think moving all the major Bowls away from New Years Day and making them part of the playoff (BCS prior) and moving the title game to a week after new years has hurt the tradition more than anything else. To me, this is fixable however.

1) Separate the playoff from the Bowls. Pick 1 site for all 3 final 4 games and play the semifinals on the Monday/Tuesday nearest Christmas (possibly even on Christmas if it falls on a Monday or Tuesday.

2) Play the National title game on the night after New Years Day.

3) Play 8 Bowls on New Years Day (An actual New Years 8 instead of a fake New Years 6) matching up teams ranked 5-20 in the country. Start at 11 am and have a kick off every 90 minutes until the last game kicks off at 9:30 eastern time. People can watch football from the minute they wake up with their hangover until they decide to go back to bed.

Other Bowls continue to be played whenever but this would put all the big games on New Years Day and bring back the tradition I remember growing up with.

I really like #3.

Like... A lot

I general like #1, but the "one site" thing is not reasonable. It is still a money business and they need to spread that stuff out. From a timing perspective I like everything you mention.

The thought process of using 1 site was fans could take a vacation there and stay there for the time between the semi's and the final. It'd be interesting to see how the money would work out vs. the system used now.

IMO, make it actually mean something to be the higher seed. 1st seed and 2nd seed get a home game. Playing a game in some of the home stadiums would create the same amount of money or possibly more. Only issue I could see is stuff with hotels and travel but enough time is given when games are revealed.  The winners than play the title game at a neutral site.

I would love to see a team play in columbus or see Bama play in Clemson, it would bring so much more excitement. Also teams would try even harder to keep a top seed. I think it bring more urgency to conference title games. Teams will be vying for one of the top 2 spots.
