Jets can just say no

Ya but you’d have to imagine Morton would rather Oakland. Better situation all around. They have an offense in place. Only piece they need is a young RB. Do we really want to be known as a franchise not allowing coaches to go where they want? Not a good look. Best thing for us to do is tell Morton our offseason plan and convince him to stay.

Every year teams block people from interviewing from jobs.  The eagles blocked us from interviewing DeFilippo last year.

Yes you’re right but rarely do you see a team block a coach for a better situation in which the coach wants. Do you really think DeFilippo wanted to leave Philly for us? Gosh No. They have a good young QBs, an OLine and weapons. We had none of the above. He’d rather build his resume with success (like he has) then come to a bad situation.

Not true.  It's seriously not rare at all.  It happens every year.  Especially in this case, it's not a promotion; it's lateral.  On top of that, if Morton went, it's actually a demotion.  Gruden is rumored to be calling all the plays on offense.

He did that for years with Payton. I don’t think he minds that.

He was the WR coach in NO, not the offensive coordinator.   And not for years.  He was there for 2 in total.

I thought he did some OC stuff in NO? I know he was WR coach but wasn’t he assistant OC or something too?

They will not block him if he wants to go.  They may elevate him to asst HC to keep him or incentive to stay.  He would put himself in a odd situation if he goes with Gruden though - kind of a no win situation IMO.  If they are successful on offense I wonder who will get the created Chuckie or Morton?  Not to mention with Carr, Cooper and a great OL will that down play any influence Morton has?

If he goes it is because of his relationship with Gruden not because it is a great career move.  If he succeeds in NY it will be his quickest route to a HC job.

Rumor is that JG has contacted different coaches. The opportunity would be better for him. TB and the GM are on the hot seat, so Mort's job is on a short leash. Go to the Raiders, he'll get at least another 2 years. He would be getting Derek Carr to work with. If it's up to him, he'll probably go unless we reject it or show him a really good offseason game plan.
