Just Want A Title
Most of the names associated with the Lions head coaching vacancy aren't too surprising. Who are some solid candidates that we aren't hearing about? My submission: Jon Gruden! What other surprise candidates do you think we could or should consider? detfan782004
Gruden to Oakland is all but done in the rumor mill. Harbaugh is my surprise choice. Michigan loss today makes it more realistic long shot
GetDownandDirty
I like to kick the tires on Jack Del Rio. Raiders are going with a celebrity coach. Gruden won a Super Bowl with a team built by Dungey, then proceeded to faulter the next 6 yrs. Del Rio got jobbed by Raiders owner. I think he brings a lot to the party. khaosoy
I'm starting to think that Jim Harbaugh made his name off of being in the right place at the right time and he's now been found out. His style of play worked well in a soft Pac-10 and he inherited a very talented team in SF that also played to his strengths. That defense was stacked and they had a solid run game but he ended up playing second fiddle to SEA who beat him at his own game so to speak. While some will say that he was run out of SF, I actually think that he is one of those coaches who is difficult to work with and may wear out his welcome quite quickly with players. It would be ironic though for the Lions to hire him given that infamous game where he and Schwartz had it out at the end.
lioneye22
How about Steve Spagnoulo from the Giants? He's been a HC before, coached under Coughlin, and by and large has had good defenses over the years. I think he got the most out of his defenses. He's also 4-3 defensive coach, so I don't think the transition to his defense would be major. I'm thinking that would eliminate a big scheme transition that would happen if Patricia, Wilks, or Vrabel are hired

Belichick isn't going anywhere he doesn't have full control.

LOL wow, I think he's already placed himself amongst the most immortal greats down the line with what he's done in his time, BUT... Winning a Championship here or in Cleveland would be a crowning Jewel to ANYONES career but to install a two an a half long decade dynasty imo while bringing up a door mate franchise to a championship* All honesty Lions aren't quite a door-mate franchise right now due to Caldwell/Schwartz. An already legendary, immortal, coach something like winning a title here would just push him above and beyond anyone else in memory. His legend would rival and imo surpass both Joe Montana and of coarse the late great coach Lombardi from Green Bay in which the championship trophy is named after. That sounds like a sales pitch to get him to come here.
