Mitchell Trubisky, year 2 and beyond

Impossible to say...you almost can't even grade him based on the season he just had with Fox as his coach and absolutely nothing in the receiving game to help him out.  I mean, he could absolutely make a Goff like jump with the change in head coach and some better weapons brought in. I think he even flashed more than Goff did in comparison to rookie years, though the scenarios aren't exactly the same, just somewhat similar.

I think that whoever is coaching this team will play a major factor in his development - signed by Captain Obvious.

I think he was handled with such kiddy gloves that it’s really difficult to even speculate what he could become in Year 2, especially without knowing who the coach/OC is going to be.

We've seen how much of a leap 2nd year QB's can make in 2017 with Wentz and Goff. Can Trubisky become the QB Chicago hopes he will be or is he destined to be just another name lost to time?

Unfortunately,  I think Trubisky will likely become a trivia question, it's difficult to replicate the situation in Los Angeles. And even with better coaching, Trubisky has a lack of college experience when compared with Wentz and Goff. At the QB position, experience matters, and  I felt Trubisky was overdrafted last year. Strong arm, but should have stayed at UNC for developmental purposes. When a QB struggles like Goff did last year, he still had the background and foundation to bounce back. What happens to Trubisky's confidence if he doesn't make strides under the next head coach?

Tough to say. You can't judge him this year given the circumstances. His confidence was sky high coming out of the preseason but I'm afraid all of that is damn near gone now thanks to FOx throwing him to wolves like he did with nothing to work with. That kind of lack of trust in his targets won't go away overnight. On the bright side, I think he and Shaheen seem to have a good future between them. That is if the next OC actually plays Shaheen unlike the idiot.

Howard and Cohen turning heads, Shaheen starting to look good, Meredith back from injury, Kevin White surely can't break another bone and whoever we pick up this offseason plus, hopefully, a less incompetent coaching staff and I think the future is bright.

He's already shown that he can play in this league despite the Fox / Loggains handicap and Josh Bellamy as a #1 WR.

I really like what I've seen from Trubisky so far.  I don't know if he has the situation around him to make a Wentz/Goff type of ascension in his second year, but I do think the Bears have their QB of the future.  He should have a good career in Chicago.

If 2016 taught us anything with rookie QBs, don't even bother trying to predict year 2, just sit back and watch. So much of it has to do with coaching and what's going on between the QB's ears, two factors that are pointless to mull over IMO. I know it's footballsfuture, but this just seems particularly futile.

No he won't... Trubisky was no we're near the prospect that Wentz or Goff was. Trubisky as a prospect was more a Blaine Gabbert or Jake Locker. He was a 10-15 overall player that got drafted 2nd because it appeared to be a weak QB class.  Wentz and Goff were both 1a and 1b throughout the draft process.

Trubisky was pretty much the consensus top qb prospect and experience wise, his snaps were nearly identical to Wentz in college.  He also compares very favorably to wentz rookie year.  Its hard to know what happens next year but we watched him really grow as the seasoned progressed

Oh I know about Trubisky... But even Bills fans were talking about him with their pick during the predraft process. Trubisky was the top QB coming out but he was only drafted 2nd because there was no consesus top 5 QB like there has been every year for the most part. If there was a top prospect like a Goff or Wentz in the 2017 draft then Mitch would have went in that 10-15 range. Best case scenario 7-10.

We dont really know but there were reports of scouts from several teams that said they had higher grades on Tru than they did on any qb since luck.  One scout in particular was quoted as saying the bears lucked out with him only having 13 starts bc if he had 20+ he was a surefire number 1 overall.  But again we have no way to know and time will only tell.

He went through the common practice of starting later in the season and showed a lot of potential. It looks like all the fools who criticized the Bears for drafting him, just might have to eat their words!!!!

If he continues to grow, the Bears will be set for years.
