pf9
I hope Mason Crosby sticks around through the 2028 season where he would be 44. Many kicking specialists have played well into their 40s. But Crosby staying with the Packers through at least 2028 and never playing for another team would set a pro football record for longest career spent with one team with at least 22 seasons, breaking the record held by Jason Hanson of division rival Detroit and Lou Groza of Cleveland, though the latter's first four years were spent in the AAFC (hence why I said "pro football record" and not "NFL record"). Part of the reason why I'd prefer to get as much in return for the '24 draft than this year's draft. Outside of Will Anderson and Jalen Carter, I'm not sure there's a ton of impact players at the top of the draft.

Yeah the only smoke surrounding Leonhard right now is what we're creating in this forum. I wouldn't count on anything.

NFLGURU
I doubt Leonhard is in the mix unless they promote Barry to Asst HC, and make Leonhard the DC. I'd like to see Leonhard on board but I doubt you'll see it. Never say never though.
Brat&Beer
Packers signed Lions DB coach Aubrey Pleasant in December after he was let go by the Lions. Pleasant coached CB's from 2017-2020 on the same Rams staff as Joe Barry. I think he might be the heir apparent to Jerry Gray.

The guy the Lions fired when they were a historically bad defense, and then suddenly after he was gone turned into a respectable defense? Yup seems like LaFleur's guy.

Good coaches sometimes get fired. That's how the Packers ended up with Jerry Gray.

Wicked pass rush though and good LB play for them. Didn't hurt that one side of the field had RAmsey also. I had high hopes for Barry but Ray is right can't pick up coaches with terrible records and hope they perform. I mean i think we're better off getting or trying an unknown. Seems to work for the 49ers. I mean Ryans was what a DC for 2 years, Saleh where did he come from? Same thing. Even worse maybe it's a corporate thing .............. the FO needs to prioritze not just drafting defense but making it the best by from the coaching side too. Sure, years ago there was an interest, but so far this coaching cycle there's been no actual news to imply something like this will happen. I'm not saying it won't happen, just odd how much people keep expecting Leonhard to be on this coaching staff next year.

From what I have read the contract from Wisconsin still pays Leonhard $1 million this year so he has no real incentive to take a job unless it's something perfect for this season. I could see him taking a DC job but doubt he takes a position coach job this year
