Terrell Edmunds just signed a deal for 1/3 of what Savage makes and has similar upside.

Edmunds wasn't good at VT and hasn't sniffed the level of play Savage hit in 2020. Steelers fans feel bad that the Eagles replaced CGJ. Not even close to comparable.

I think the FA we signed, Moore has as much upside as Salvage.

Ford was brought back and he started over Salvage.

It was a mistake to sign him to that tender.  Now we are living with it.

And really?  While it is a mistake, it is forgivable.  For now.  At worst he's Safety #3 and CB5.

But there is talent there.  Somewhere.

Savage has been average to terrible for 2 years.  Maybe he could benefit from a change of scenery or coordinator, but he'll never be a top 15 safety in the NFL, which is how he's being paid this year.  His upside is in the 30-40 range, and even that is hoping for a lot.

At best he'll be a serviceable, highly overpaid player this year.  Who happens to be 25 and once had a glimmer of hope.  Bad starter, terrible contract, bad plan.

The badly failed PBU against Godwin in the NFCCG broke Savage. He's literally never been in the same since that play.

A lot of players on GB haven’t been the same since that game…

If Savage improved at the end of 2022, I'm definitely ok seeing his trajectory in 2023.

If he didn't, I'm suspicious his 2023 contract is a waste of money.

he had a hamstring to start the season iirc... savage hate is way overblown

My much bigger fear is that we consciously left a guy in charge of our defense who is going to turn out a bad-to-mid product regardless of whether we have Savage-Ford at safety or Ed Reed and Ronnie Lott.
