Rebuilding year. Save the new D coordinator card for 2024 when the slate is clean. No sense bringing in someone new at a time when regression is all but assured.

Keep the scapegoat around....

You just described the league wide philosophy for playing defense. Avoid chunk plays at all costs.

I get the philosophy, but I can also understand why people feel frustrated at watching teams complete easy 5-6 yarders all day....though I'd assume those people don't watch much outside of their favored team and don't realise that that is MOST defenses.

Bringing up this old chestnut, but when the Packers were at The Grove in London, three individuals distinctly were wankerish to different degrees. Thankfully, it looks like all three are gone and the team will be better for it.

Wankerish ranking follows:

1) Aaron Rodgers

2) Dean Lowry (it was a toss up for 1 and 2)

3) Coach Gray

Please tell us that Barry was #4 on the wankerish rating scale...

With all the complaining by fans the Packers were 6th in pass defense and tied for 4th in INT's. It wasn't as bad as some want to claim.

And we played a lot of the season without our green dot in campbell. ilb is responsible for controlling a lot of throwing lanes. I suspect our drop in safety play actually had a lot to do with the drop in ILB play

Hire Cobb as a coach.

I am not opposed to bringing him back as a player.  You just have to know what you are getting from Cobb.  He isn't the 1200 yard 12 TD guy anymore.  He is a sneaky 400 yard 3 TD guy, that gets first downs.  So you pay him accordingly.  Is it minimum? No.  He offers a lot of experience and wisdom to the young room.  But we paid him just at 3 million last season.  I'd have no problem with doing that again, if he wants to play.

I feel the same way about Big Dog. Both can still contribute on the field, long past their prime but fill a lockeroom void in rooms with (hopefully for TE) young talent. If one or both of those guys came back for market value, I’m good with it. Of course, we are bargain bin shoppers in FA so every little bit adds up.

Actually, didn't we may him a lot more than that when you account for the void years to spread it out?

Over the cap has us with a 1.4 million dead cap hit for Cobb this year.
