Ha, I would actually say the exact same thing about Ted and his son, Gute, but in a different way. Want to stay relevant, get 10 wins every year, but never really have the best team in the conference or make those 1 or 2 extra moves necessary to get to the SB?...they are your guys. Packers have become experts at circling the wagon...highlighted by 4 NFCCG losses since 2007.

I dont consider constantly winning your division and constantly getting into the playoffs and losing (some heartbreaker) NFCCGs as fire able offenses.

I dont follow Schneider all that closely but thru reading have picked up on some questionable draft selections and/or trades - but which NFL team isnt dotted with similar "Could have/should have drafted this guy instead of that" player? Few I'd say.

The Ws are the barometer. If you're winning....you must be doing something right.....and I dont see winning as a fire able offense.
The goal is to address those things that are keeping you from getting over the hump.

Packers generally spend their money. So if you are going to make those extra 1 or 2 moves then you are going to be in trouble a few years down the line.  If we had made those one or two moves then we might not have a competitive team now. Is that what you want ?   There's no right answer to the 'is all-in' the way to go. If after 10 seasons and you have no ring then you can maybe wish you had gone all-in.  But if you go all-in and Rodgers goes down week 1 then your going to feel pretty sick.

Teams generally aren't one or two moves away from the super bowl. Most of the time, to make a significant difference to your chances then you have to spend a lot of money. Ultimately we were one game away from the super bowl. A game when pretty much everyone had a bad day. If everyone had a good day then maybe we get there.

You've said it yourself - 4 NFCCG losses. That says the strategy has worked - we just fluffed it on the big day.  One or two extra moves probably doesn't change that.

Seattle

2015 - 10-6 Wild Card
2016 - 10-5+1 Division winner/Playoffs
2017 - 9-7
2018 - 10-6 Wild Card
2019 - 11-5 Wild Card

I went back fives years. At what point would you have fired Schneider and why?

One of the last 2 years and for the same reason why TT should have been relieved of his duties.... 9-7/10-6 with a high end qb is a fail. The 2013-2018 drafts they have had were pretty sub par

The Tonyan situation is so weird to me. What about this guy makes him successful? He just doesn't scream athletic or fast or anything to me so I'm having a hard time squaring that with his "semi-breakout" this year.

He ran a 4.58 40 coming out of college.  Now, he was a 220 lb WR at that point.  And the Packers list him at 237, and I would guess that is a little light as well.  But he moves pretty well for a TE.

He's athletic and fast. He's probably put on 10lbs since getting here but he ran a 4.58 40 and had 35" and 125" jumps at 236 pounds at his pro day.

We've also been much better with our play action and been more vertically oriented this year. That helps a guy like Tonyan who can do some damage if you get two safeties splitting deep and an inside Linebacker biting on play action.

Aikman said it the other week.  Scheme.  Add to that Tonyan's athletic ability and you have a solid player.  He's tall, has strength, has some speed, and he's been around for a few years.  MLF's scheme (bootlegs, play action) is putting him in a great position and he's catching the ball.  Looks like a solid player out there, and he's kind of an all around tight end because he is a decent blocker.  I've always been rooting for him.

And as good as he is now, I think Jace is even quicker and faster on the field.  Jace may never been the blocking that Tonyan is, but I think he is going to be an even better receiving threat in the future.

I know we just put up 41 on the Bears (34 by the offense), but if Stills goes unclaimed, I'm still bringing him in for a visit. Come playoff time, the writing is on the wall that the Packers are going to need to score high 30s (at least) in order to win against the competition we'll be facing. Adding another deep threat to go with MVS wouldn't hurt.

*Also sign Tavon Austin to the PS like yesterday.

Speaking of Tonyan... in regards to recent and even historical, his season right now has to rate pretty high as far as TEs for GB goes right? Yardage and TDs etc. Like I know he is closing in on Bubba in TDs.

best i could find: **Note that Tonyan's stats are extrapolated to a full 16 games*** He's currently at 37/458/7
