Rodjahs12
Being reported by numerous outlets that both the star safety and star edge rusher's careers are likely over according to head coach Pete Carroll. The Seattle defense will need a complete rebuild sooner rather than later.
northernpackfan
That will be crippling. Between losing those stars, and the locker room discord that took place last off-season, I don’t know if Seattle will be able to continue to compete at anywhere near the same level. Not to mention Thomas hinting at retirement last year.
Soko
Wow, really crazy and unfortunate we may have seen the end of Chancellor without really knowing it. Avril too, but he wasn’t the player Kam was.
AFlaccoSeagulls
If the Seahawks extend KJ Wright, Earl Thomas, and Richard Sherman they'll have the core of that defense locked up for many years. Then all they have to worry about is the defensive line. You're not replacing Kam Chancellor. You can't. Bradley McDougal was a good player, though and should continue to be a starter for them. Richard Sherman recovering from a torn achilles isn't a given.

This is true, but I think it's becoming more commonplace for NFL athletes to recover from a torn achilles these days. It's not a guarantee, but it's not something you should count on not happening, either.

I personally think it comes down to position as well - something like CB is a spot where blowing the tendon out really impacts COD ability, which is the most important attribute to a CB. Pure conjecture on my end, but I'd be worried.
Dome
Blow it up. Rebuild an o-line and d-line with most your assets and trust Carroll to find the right guys in the secondary with whatever you can spare.
tonyto36
Seahawks demise has been a long way coming. No one could predict this is how those two would end, but whether it injury or contract dispute or free agency or something, when you load up on veteran stars, eventually it comes crashing down. Just like the 2010 Jets and 2013 Broncos.

Just like the 2010 Jets and 2013 Broncos. With Denver, it wasn't just loading up on vets. Poor drafting has also had a lot to do with it. For example, Elway drafted two guys in Round 3 in this past draft (Carlos Henderson and Brendan Langley) that don't look like players at this point. August4th
going forward I think this teams identity will be Wilson .. LOB and the defense will take a backseat now

Forge
What's the status on McDowell? There was a little scuttlebutt on these boards at one time that his injuries in the atv accident could have been career ending as well. Is he projected to be back? Asking Carson to be responsible for the run game and offensive line is probably asking a lot of him
