There are no compensatory picks awarded for players who are traded as compensation, in terms of another player and/or draft picks, are given in return for the traded player. If you cut a player who is under contract, you get nothing. You only qualify for compensation (along with factoring the talent acquired and lost too) if he's a UDFA (we got nothing when we declined Okung's option, as an example).
