With the disaster averted...

We still need to acquire a veteran QB thereby allowing the QB1 drafted to sit back and learn.

I'm all in on the following draft plans ranked in order of preference:

1. Sam Darnold and Bradley Chubb

2. Sam Darnold and Saquon Barkley

3. Sam Darnold and Minkah Fitzpatrick

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Minkah Fitzpatrick played Strong Safety exclusively this year along with nickel S/Corner not FS or in the deep post. He's best in press man coverage as a nickel or boundary Corner or down in the box as an underneath supreme coverage SS and is not a natural FS. He is a bigger and better pass covering Jabrill Peppers in the Tyrann Mathieu nickel playmaker role. That is, he is a chess piece to be moved around. .Great tackler. He's a really good football player who can range in the post as FS but his eye and diagnosis instincts/habits leave much to be desired. People are calling him a FS now not b/c he plays there, not because they've watched him play there on tape, but because draft sites and pundits speak of him that way as well as the fact that he's a converted Corner to Safety and doesn't pack the punch of a typical SS. Soon people will figure this thing out. I'd be willing to bet he is drafted as a CB with Tyrann Mathieu chess piece versatility. He'll be a terror as a nickel player. Right now he is a versatile defensive back who will provide most value as a boundary corner on early downs and a nickel CB/S on passing downs. His skill set is a little redundant with that of Jabrill Peppers albeit Minkah is still very well suited as a CB. If we have a plan for him to utilize his versatility, then the selection makes all the sense in the world.

Bradley Chubb: Elite hustle, effort, and strength for an advanced pass rushing technician. His pass rushing technique is not all that close to Bosa coming out of college (but then who is), but he has an array of outside power, bull rush, and speed to burst around the edge. Not the speed skater, agile, all everything pass rusher that Myles is, but he's a more powerful and gifted version of Vikings DE Everson Griffin. Ready made pass rusher that will command double teams and is equally as proficient in run stopping. Has a natural instinct for the strip sack and routinely makes coaches dream effort game changing plays like chasing a player down 20 or 40 yards down the field extending with every last drop of effort to be rewarded by a game changing momentum shifting forced fumble. He'll be a 10 sack player out the gate and is already everything we hope Ogbah develops into. Ogbah is a hell of a player but if you don't have 2 elite pass rusher, you have none as the primary can be doubled and triple teamed to neutralize them as Myles has been repeatedly. Ogbah is a run stuffing specialist with pass rush upside but is not consistent at beating his man 1 on 1 despite being the most talented athlete on the field. As the Jags have shown, 3 pass rushers are what make a defense a real force (Yannick, Calais Campbell,Donte Fowler). The combo of Ogbah, Chubb, and Garrett can create an identity for us that can be a decisive force affecting the oppositions QB in a variety of ways. There are 3 positions you don't pass up if there are elite pro bowl blue chip talents available unless you already have a pro bowl blue chip talent on your roster (Ogbah is not that despite being a really good player): 1. QB, 2. OT (The guy who protects the QB), and 3. DE (The guy most able to attack/affect the QB).

Saquon Barkely: There's not much to say about him that hasn't been said before. There are some concerns regarding if he has the vision and foot/speed pacing to set up blocks and sense where the hole is developing in a pro running scheme. All his runs allow him to shoot out of a cannon from the shotgun via a read option look or run counters from the gun. He accelerates immediately and out athletes opposing defenses. But there is so much more to being an effective runner in the pros that we just haven't seen Saquon have the opportunity to prove to us he is capable of. I wouldn't bet against him.But in a draft of RB depth w/ a GM who can find RBs throughout the draft that can impact the offense, the main argument against taking Saquon top 5 is that it's probably a better judgment to use top of round 1 draft capital on impact positions for which there is never really any depth and the talent is scarce (DE, CB, QB, OT). Therefore, even though he's a tremendous player it might be smarter to take a guy like Minkah Fitzpatrick/Bradley Chubb and come back with a capable impact runner like Rashaad Penny (my favorite RB in the draft) in the middle rounds as opposed to Saquon Barkely at 4 and nonimpact Nate Orchard types later on. Beyond who I personally think we should draft at 4 (Bradley Chubb), Dorsey unearthed Kareem Hunt in the 3rd round and recent success may cause him to forego selecting a RB at the top of the first round.

For me it’s Darnold and Barkley unless we get a offer we can’t refuse for pick 4.

dont trade pick one for anything!!!

Barkley is the best RB prospect since Adrian Peterson. He has rare talent and is going to put up wow numbers at the combine. Those numbers are going to be backed up by the tape

As I've said repeatedly....Minkah is only used as a nickel CB/Box Safety/SS....he doesn't play FS...that's a misconception.

If we draft him, it's either as a CB or with the intention to keep using Jabrill at FS as their skill sets are somewhat redundant.

Even with a hamstring injury, Minkah is on another level.

It's going to be tough to decide between Minkah, Saquon, and Bradley Chubb.

However, Jim Irsay seems to be leaning toward taking Saquon Barkley at 3 b/c he recently talked about how Edgerrin James changed the complexion of Peyton Mannings career and a RB can help Luck out the most. He went on to say that "there might be a good one after the QBs." He's been known to blurt out draft strategy in the past. It's early but if they stay put at 3, Barkley very well might be gone. We might have to convince them to let us trade into that spot (they might be hyping up Barkley for that very reason), or they might still trade out for however wants the 3rd QB.

Either way...it may very well come down to Minkah and Chubb....tough decision...

When deciding between an elite pass rusher or an elite nickel CB/box defender...you have to go with the pass rusher no matter how much one likes the defensive back.

Unfortunately we can’t predict what’s going to happen or who’s going to go where. If you could guarantee me Guice would fall to 33 I’d take Chubb at 4. But i think guice won’t make it past 25. I do like Sony Michel and Penny but I think we would need a bigger back to compliment either. Like a Hyde or Hill in FA. Or a Chubb or Scarborough in the later rounds. If we get Hyde in FA then I would feel alittle better passing on Barkely for Chubb. Because that would give us an elite Pass Rush.

I said Darnold at #1 and Barkley at #4. Although I would definitely be open to Fitzpatrick or trading down if we receive a great offer. I'm usually against taking a RB that high, unless that RB is a truly special talent and I believe Barkley is that type of talent. He's the type of guy who should make things much easier for Darnold or whoever is starting next year.

Rosen at 1 (with Darnold as second preference) and Barkley at 4 (with Fitzpatrick as second preference). Do not trade back from #1 no matter what, and not from #4 if it takes us out of range for Barkley/Minkah/Chubb. Lock down a potential franchise QB and potential elite player.

I chose Darnold and Barkley.  I like Rosen more but I am high on Darnold and think his maturity and composure is better suited for Cleveland where Rosen can be a diva in NY.  Barkley would just be a BPA selection.  Ultimately, I'm with LGB and think it should be Darnold and a slight trade down to pick up secondary or receiver help (depending on FA) and some more capital.

Ultimately, I don't think there are any prospects that are must haves in the top 15 or so players (outside of QBs) I know there are some that are valued higher but the talent is so spread out.  There are several position groups where there is one or two really good players then a drop off in talent.  I don't think that drop off will happen until the mid teens or twenties.

I chose Darnold and Barkley.

That being said if there was a haul, including a first round pick this year and next year, for the #4 I would have a hard time turning it down.

People everywhere complain about trading picks because "we need talent not more JAGs"

We are not trading down the only pick we have to get lesser talent, we are also not trading down and only getting back 2nd and 3rd round picks.

I'm talking about trading down our second 1st round pick to pick up MORE FIRST ROUND PICKS!

I want to build a sustainable future not just be good this next year.

My outsider opinion is that you all cannot pass on whatever QB you want at 1 and hope Barkley is there at 4. Two great playmakers to build around.

Your outsider opinion is a wise one and always welcome.

I'm going with Darnold and Barkley as well. DB can be fixed in the FA as well as drafting a CB in the 2nd round. Our front 7 is already beastly. Our offense however needs a injection of talent, badly. Plus as a bonus Darnold's family is blue collared as they come. Father is a plumber and mother is a teacher. He'll fit in well with the Cleveland fanbase.

That is all
