Im sorry but I love vulturing off these guys. If you woulda told me 2 months ago we would essentially replace Sashi with the heart of Greenbay and KCs FO, Id said, sashi who. Wow, this is good stuff. If McCarthey is fired in the next couple of weeks, do you guys think Jimmy pulls the trigger on Hue?? Any links on the Eliot wolf rumor, or was that purely speculative, @Mind Character?

I almost think you would have to. Hueball is a sneaky snake. How he survived going 1-31 is beyond me.

that is all

With Joe Philbin reportedly returning to the Packers...one would have to believe that Mccarthy must've won the Russ Ball--Mccarthy-Rodgers power struggle

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/01/05/if-russ-ball-is-in-mike-mccarthy-may-be-out/

If this is true, it bodes well for the fact that Prez Mark Murphy and his desired Russ Ball GM plan may give way  to Eliot Wolf being named GM.

If not, we are likely to see Wolf still head this way despite Mccarthy staying in place in GB.

Ron Wolf was the main adviser on the John Dorsey Hire. That's been made know by Jimmy Haslam and multiple reporters (Schefter, RapSheet, Bob McGinn)

McGinn also reported that we wanted Eliot Wolf as our GM; however, Wolf was under the impression that he would be the next in line in the Green Bay succession plan when Ted Thompson called it quits. He's turned down multiple GM opportunities over the years b/c he dreamed one day of being GM over a team his father once presided over.

Yesterday, when McGinn broke the news that Russ Ball as General Manager, and Brian Gutekunst as executive V.P. of football operations, he also mentioned a nugget on his website in a reply to a user comment that this news was reportedly crushing to Eliot Wolf and as he's already interviewed w/ Cleveland if he doesn't get a GM position this hiring cycle at some other team he might end up serving in a senior personnel role here in Cleveland. The only question remaining was can GB repair the damaged relationship.

Excellent... I kiss the ring, @Mind Character

As confirmation that McCarthy has won the power struggle, multiple Wisconsin news agency reported that the promotion/hirings in GB of VP of FB Ops Brian Gutekunst and GM Russ Ball were imminent and to be announced within 24 hours.

This pairing was reported to potentially lead to McCarthy's ouster despite him signing a formality 1-year extension ( Russ Ball as General Manager, and Brian Gutekunst as executive V.P. of football operations,)

That 24 hours is up, and it is being reported that the GB Board of Directors has reversed field and is going in a different direction.

Some reports say Aaron Rodgers made it known to higher ups that he didn't want Russ Ball as GM (https://www.totalpackers.com/2018/01/aaron-rodgers-not-russ-ball-camp/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter)

Now, it seems Gutekunst is now interviewing for he Houston Texans GM position (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/01/06/brian-gutekunst-to-interview-for-texans-g-m-job-sunday/

This likely means Russ Ball and Gutekunst won't take the reigns at GB HQ and that McCarthy with the hiring of Joe Philbin as OC has won the power struggle.

This also could mean that Packers BOD will revere field and possibly pair Elliot Wolf as GM with Mike McCarthy.

If so, it's an unfortunate turn of events for us in 24 hrs.

On the Wolf front, we should know what's going on in the next 48 hours.

Yeah, aren't power struggles great, after all Hue won his, aren't we so lucky to keep Hue. So Haslam wants to bring in more FO help to confuse us even more, I should send him a box of bobble heads, he can just shake them for each decision he makes and then blame them for all the mistakes!!! Probably work better than the organization he has set up!!!O.o

... Why would getting McCarthy make me feel good? The vast majority of GB fans haaaaate McCarthy. His offensive schemes look like something a robot would draw up if he only ever watched the most procedural, boring football of the 90s. He's had one of the 3-4 best QBs of all time for a decade and has managed one superbowl appearance. I just don't think McCarthy is what we should be looking for/hoping for here. Glad to see this one die.

Probably because he has a .636 winning percentage, made the playoffs 9 of 12 years, went to 4 NFCCGs and our head coach is 1-31. Just a side by side comparison really makes him look good. He has won twice as many playoff games as Hue has won games the last 2 years. He won 4 games with Hundley, one of which he finished with 84 yards and a 40 something rating. So the short answer is we have Hue and we'd like someone else.

Indeed @H2ThaIzzo

Another interesting turn of events.

Likely means it was a compromise struck between McCarthy and the GB Board in that the Board got 1 of their 2 guys in and Rodgers and McCarthy made sure Russ Ball wouldn't be GM.

Things to look out for is will an offer of VP of Player Personnel be extended to Elliot Wolf and appease him to stay in GB.

Seems likely as the only way to keep him in the organization after being spurned for the GM role

If not, Wolf will likely head our way.

There is 1 spot left in the Personnel dept. hiearchy...will it go to Ball or Wolf?

Looks like Ball has lost out big time.
