New GM -- What's Front and Center on the Plate?

Whoever is the new GM will need to make some big decisions fairly quickly.  What are they and what's top priority?

Examples:

On the player side:

  • What's the comfort level with 3 WRs earning north of 10M each next year? If Jordy and/or Cobb are gone after 2018, how high do replacements get drafted in 2018?
  • What to do about CMIII?  Rework exorbitant salary and extend him or ???
  • AR's contract extension
  • If the new defensive scheme differs greatly from that of Capers, how quickly can the new GM evaluate current player fit and new draft pick/UFA acquisition options to fit new system?
  • TT would normally not extend a guy like Burnett b/c of his age.  Does new GM have same views of player longevity?

On admin side:

  • How much of ARs decision to extend his contract depends on MM being retained after 2019?  (As such, will AR 'sit tight' and see what transpires with MM before extending his contract?)
  • If decision is made that MM goes after the 2018 season (and decision announced after the 2018 season which seems the best time), won't the new OC and DC bolt -- not knowing if they have a future with the new HC?  Then, would potentially having 3 DCs in 3 years (Capers, new 2018 DC, new 2019 DC) be completely disruptive to the already-suspect defense (what - another new defensive scheme to learn and follow? How will I be valued by yet another new DC, etc.)  New GM needs to minimize the likelihood of this occurring.
  • Minor:  cleaning up the Bennett mess and potential 4.M 2018 cap hit

Random:

TT seemed to not value TEs, RBs and ILBs to the extent that they'd be worthy of a #1 or #2 rounder pick.  Will new GM have same value system?  Will/should the new GM trade away picks more often?  (Does new GM value GB's current roster enough to think 11 2018 draft picks is too many -- many won't have chance to make team just due to numbers game - so should package & move up in draft or trade more of them for players?  We knew where TT stood on valuing draft picks.)

A more aggressive GM in free agency is likely to have a few misses.  How comfortable are we with more dead money on the cap?  (TT was very conservative in free agency signings.  TT was unlikely to release players he extended into their second contracts.  TT did not give out many 3rd contracts.  All resulted in less dead cap money.  Using Burnett as an example -- should new GM extend more players (in this case into a 3rd contract) or resign fewer unproven draft pics for a 2nd contract and instead delve into free agency).
