It's relative, and for me it ties into finishing a project that he started. There's a sense of pride in that, or there at the very least should be IMO.

It is a job man.

Of course there is pride, but money talks.

If they ownership group and GM doesn't have enough faith in him to match the pay of somewhere else then why would he want to stay?

Doesn't matter how much money you have, $500k is still a lot. Could set up a grandkid for life if he wanted to, it buys a pretty decent house he could move into after flipping the one he is in.

3 million vs 3.5 million.  that is a shallow human being if its about the money

Vic probably won't be able to afford his San Fran girlfriend if he doesn't get that packer's money

I get what you're saying, but this guy is a multi-millionaire. I'm honestly looking at this from the perspective of loyalty and wanting to not finish what you started because of a slight (to him) bump in pay. That's all. He's got every right to go do what he wants, he can leave for $1 more if it's all about the money.

so increase your pay *1 1/7

100K ---> 114K a year.

someone willing to pay someone 14K a year might be willing to take that new job.

its different we are talking about a working man's salary vs a Multi millionaire.  I am not going to cry if Vic can't afford a yacht on the his bear's salary

14K means private school for my kids and out of CPS

That's his lifestyle though. If you make 70K you are use to it and its a different life than 40K. If you want a guy you pay him simple as that. Fangio deserves an extension and more money because he's proven it.

Like I said initially, it's relative. We are discussing the literal top 1% here, not people scraping to get by ya know?

I just don't think it is fair to look at it that way.

He probably does want to finish it.

but he also isn't getting much faith in the staff and ownership that are much higher paid than he is.

It may not be all about the money, but if he came back asking if he is worth that 500k raise, and they said no. I can see why he wouldn't want to stay.

Well that's the thing... we offered him an extension in-season and he refused it.

We blocked Cincinnati's request to interview him.

He KNOWS he is wanted here. There is 150% faith in him here and he is valued/respected.

The McDs comment is very interesting to me:

Since there’s so much information available on Nagy, I’ll spare you the same rehashed opinions and links. Instead here’s some information you won’t see elsewhere about the process.

  • John DeFilippo’s interview was underwhelming. And that’s being kind. The Bears found him to be green and, beyond that, doubted his ability to build a competitive staff. When Peter Schrager reported that Flip was willing to keep Fangio, some believe it was a response to Flip knowing he’d done poorly when pushed on those questions.
  • Josh McDaniels’ interview was the opposite. If Nagy was the target all along, McD gave the organization pause. He was incredibly prepared for their short session. There’s some debate over whether McD wanted to come to Chicago but there is no debate that Bears would have pursued vigorously if Nagy passed. (Side note: Nagy wasn’t passing.)
  • Adam Jahns is not just someone I respect but a friend. And an hour before his story went public, I knew he had it. Being able to experience that hour with him was flat-out thrilling. And seeing him beat Schefter and RapSheet by all of a few minutes is proof 2018 has potential.
  • When I went to sleep Sunday night, around midnight ET, Ted Phillips and George McCaskey were not certain who Ryan Pace was hiring as the next head coach. Pace was given autonomy. A source close to ownership told me Sunday early evening that it would “not be surprising if there were a second round of interviews”. It would have been quite surprising to Pace.

They also are spending like the top 1%

but all it would take is a couple bad injuries in a row and the 500k might never be on the table again

They why aren't they offering to blow his mind with a number.

GB offers him $3.5M why not offer the guy you want, and want to keep $4.25M instead of stiffing him and telling him he is only worth say..$3M
