2018 Off-season Coaching Staff Changes

I've been mentioning the league-wide scuttlebutt regarding the Browns staff for a while now. A few changes have been anticipated based on speculation within former personnel circles.

These are some of the anticipated changes being tossed around in conversation:

1) Was that Al Saunders would be stepping aside/retiring,

2. That Bob Wylie would be retiring/ transitioning to a senior assistant role

3. That CB coach DeWayne Walker would likely be taking a job elsewhere depending on which HC gets hired (Oakland- speculation is that Walker wants to return home to the West coach and Gruden has him as a finalist for a DB position, and Giants if Steve Wilks is hired),

4. That Jerod Kruse Safety Coach would not be retained

5. Mike Singletary will be hired as a defensive advisor or LB coach, causing Blake Williams to take over the S coaching position should Jerod Kruse not be retained.

------------------------------------------------

It will be interesting to see which of those come to fruiton, but it seems the first 1 already has.

As Al Saunders will be an advisor and WR coach Adam Henry has been hired in his stead

Bob Wylie getting ready for the next chapter in his life....

the next chapter of his life? Bro he does that now, you just don't see him compete because invisibility is one of his many magic tricks. He's the big invisible dude that steals Joey Chestnut's hot dogs that allow Joey to look like he's taking down 70 in 10 minutes.

If true, David Lee we hardly knew thee.

Zampese had a short lived and controversial time as an OC for 2016 and 2 games in 2017, but he did an amazing job with Jon Kitna, Carson Palmer, and Andy Dalton and is well respected for his QB coach development skills.

Also some scuttlebut that Tom Cable (Seahawks) or Paul Alexander (Bengals) may be headed here as our OL coach

There will be a lot of recency bias if the Browns hire Paul Alexander (Bengals) over Bob Wylie as the Bengals OL has regressed in recent years as Cedric Obugehi and Jake Fischer have not developed as competent tackles in the league.

Alexander has been the bengals OL coach for 23 years and have overseen top OL and developed top offensive lines including the development of Rich Braham, Willie Anderson, Eric Steinbach, Levi Jones, Andrew Whitworth, Kevin Zeitler and Clint Boling.

This year was an epic bad year in OL play (they lost Whitworth and Zeitler), and started green OTs and guards.

Something to keep in mind w/ Alexander in the event that he is hired.

I like it. When he got fired I was hoping Hue would bring him in and have him replace lee eventually.

So far kizer is 1/1 getting QB coaches fired. Good start.

Solid point.

Alexander is pretty well respected down here and if you give him talent he’ll put a good product on the field.

Their issues on the OL were talent related this year, Fischer and Obugehi are awful. I was surprised when they drafted those dudes as I wasn’t high on either of them at all and the Bengals have done a good job identifying OL for a while now.
