Eric Dickerson join The Herd w/ Colin Cowherd discussing Cleveland Browns superstar wideout Odell Beckham Jr and how Beckham’s notorious catch versus the Dallas Cowboys in 2014 led to his career taking off. Dickerson said the catch was ‘cool’ but brought up the fact NFL receivers are now equipped with state of the art ‘sticky gloves’, that greatly assist wide receivers catching the ball in the modern NFL.

The Cowboys also won that game.  So it was neat, and that is it.

Lol Bears, this is hilarious.

"Several sources active in the kicking community say Parkey is clearly better than anyone the Bears brought in this offseason"

Yeah, knee-jerk decisions rarely work out for the best in any context.

A knee jerk reaction never, ever, works out well because if it does, it immediately stops being viewed as a knee jerk reaction and morphs automatically into "a timely response to a situation".

Here's a list of things that will piss you off this season
The annual "points of emphasis" decree from the owners -- > the refs

https://operations.nfl.com/the-rules/2019-rules-changes-and-points-of-emphasis/?utm_source=t.co&utm_medium=referral

Offensive holding will be more strictly enforced this season, particularly on the back side of the run play or line of scrimmage. Referees will closely monitor play at the line of scrimmage to ensure that offensive players do not materially restrict opponents or alter the defender’s path or angle of pursuit.

The Officiating Department will continue to emphasize the Use of Helmet rule adopted in 2018.
* Lowering the head (not to include bracing for contact)
* Initiating contact with the helmet to any part of an opponent. Contact does not have to be to an opponent’s head or neck area — lowering the head and initiating  contact to an opponent’s torso, hips, and lower body, is also a foul.
* Making contact on an opponent

Players can be ejected for Use of Helmet fouls — and all ejections will be reviewed by senior officials in Art McNally GameDay Central in New York.
The standards for ejection are, if:
* The player lowers his helmet to establish a linear body posture prior to initiating and making contact with the helmet;
* The player delivering the blow had an unobstructed path to his opponent
* The contact was clearly avoidable

Eff the NFL

...initiating contact with the helmet at the HIPS is a foul. I, uh, wow. We really are headed towards this being the flag football league.

Its protecting the defensive player from himself. Quit putting your eyes into the ground. Theres still ample opportunities for big impact.

The guys had a rough NFL career....

Rotoworld: Cardinals released WR Kevin White. White had been dealing with a hamstring injury over the last week. He's healthy now, but the Cardinals are moving forward. White was listed as the No. 3 wideout on Arizona's first depth chart, but had fallen behind rookies KeeSean Johnson and Andy Isabella. He's not a lock to resurface before Week 1.

I didn't know he was on the Cardinals...

Rotoworld: Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said DK Metcalf's knee surgery showed minimal injury. This falls in line with the Seahawks expectations he won't be sidelined long. Metcalf is week to week and looks doubtful for the start of the season, but his knee scope went as smoothly as possible.

Hardly.  Players ducking their head and leading with the helmet is a big part of why tacking has regressed so badly across the league.
