Golfman
8 hours ago, SSG said: Funny now how we're talking about a Bear and sacks are the end all be all. This off season I questioned the massive contract of Zadarius Smit because of his terrible sack production over his career. 7.5 sacks was damn near his best season as a pro and he got a massive contract. There has been nothing wrong with Khalil Mack this year. His sack numbers are down but he's still been an elite difference maker that demands as much attention as any defensive player in the NFL. If they let Floyd walk it's because he's not worth the money, not because they can't keep him. Hicks isn't a UFA until 2022. Chicago has more salary cap space than we do, it's premature to say Mack's contract is forcing them into moves they wouldn't otherwise be making. This last off season they paid Fuller like a top 5 CB and brought in an UFA CB to replace Callahan. The reality is they do not have as much 'functional' cap space as we do. Meaning, we have our QB locked up in our cap numbers, they do not. In order to get one it is going to cost them some players.
Leader
Ten former NFL players have been charged with defrauding the league’s health care benefit program, the Justice Department said Thursday. They include five former players on the Washington Redskins, including Clinton Portis and Carlos Rogers. Prosecutors allege the players targeted the Gene Upshaw NFL Player Health Reimbursement Account Plan, which was established as part of a collective bargaining agreement in 2006. It provides tax-free reimbursement of out-of-pocket medical care expenses that were not covered by insurance and that were incurred by former players, their spouses and dependents. The Justice Department alleges the players submitted nearly $4 million in false claims to the plan, resulting in over $3.4 million being paid out between June 2017 and December 2018. Court papers allege Portis and seven other players submitted claims to be reimbursed for expensive medical equipment. But prosecutors allege they had never purchased or received the medical equipment. The indictment filed in federal court in Kentucky alleges they fabricated letters from health care providers about using the medical equipment, fabricated prescriptions that were purportedly signed by healthcare providers and created fake invoices from medical equipment companies in an effort to prove the equipment was purchased. Would we be any better off if we lost AR12 to a career ending injury? Point being, they have no prayer to improve that team. No cash, no draft choices .. nothing. Unless their qb shines ... nada. Six of them have agreed to self-surrender to federal authorities, while the remaining four refused to surrender and have been arrested instead. Two other players, retired wide receivers Joe Horn and Reche Caldwell, are also accused and could face charges. If convicted, each of the charged players faces the possibility of spending decades in federal prison. No current NFL players are implicated and none is expected to face accusations. Probably a shade under 2 million left to be paid out.
MacReady
There’s always a new best quarterback in the league. How many times did this happen in the 2000’s, 90’s, 80’s? From 2010 it was Manning to Brady to Rodgers to Wilson to Mahomes and now after just one year for Mahomes it’s Jackson and I’m the only one sitting here like... It’s talent at QB plus cap space plus draft capital. The Ravens and the Chiefs just happen to be the only two teams to see how the NFL works right now. The NFL has tried so hard to prop up their money position (QB) that they’ve ended up minimizing its value and soon teams will see that. But I'm assuming the Saints are a spot lower than us on the waiver wire, if so, I guarantee they'll claim him (if he lasts that long). Saints just lost Davenport so getting Suggs in Week 15 would be a dream.

I hope this negative stuff is working it's way to Rodgers ears. This is the perfect spot to prove the doubters wrong. He's been less than perfect, but he's still got it in him to stick it up someone's giggy when he feels he's being slighted. Good time for one of those games that leaves people in awe.
