Bears lost 14 games this season. What are the chances they lose all 17 next year?

This was the Bears purge year.  They will be better next season.  Think they go 7-10 maybe 8-9.  Bears will be on the rise like it or not.  Year after they will be competing for the division.  Didn't like the Claypool trade but think they have a competent GM.  A lot of draft capital and 100 mil under the cap.  Should be interesting to see what they do in the draft.  So many holes I'd trade out of 1 and keep trading back.  Parlay it into multiple 1's and 2's.

You make a very strong argument that I agree with. But you can only get around that if you're a good drafting team. KC has drafted well, they lock up their Own and never have to spend big money on outside FA. Their receiver's and RBs are mostly on rookie deals making peanuts. It doesn't work for us because we stunk at drafting.

It also helps when you have a QB playing at an all world level who truly elevates the rest of the team. The Packers are paying Rodgers and he didn't do that this season. KC is paying Mahomes and he absolutely helps protect their WRs and OL.

I don't think the bolded is necessarily true as 5 of their top 10 paid players came from other teams. In fact, of those top 10 players, only Mahomes, Chris Jones, and Travis Kelce are players drafted by KC on second contracts. And now they're going to need to figure out who to pay among their starting LT (Orlando Brown who came from Baltimore), JuJu Smith-Schuster, Derek Nnadi (their starting DT), Andrew Wylie (their starting RT, originally a Colts UDFA), Juan Thornhill (their starting FS), and Mecole Hardman (their WR3). That's also not counting other depth players or having to potentially replace underperforming players like MVS.

Also, Mahomes cap number goes from 35M to 46M (17 percent to 20.95 percent).

For the Packers, 3 of their top 10 paid players are from other teams (Amos, Lewis, Smith) but the other 7 (Rodgers, Bakh, Clark, Jenkins, Alexander, Jones, Crosby) are all on second or even third contracts with the Packers.

The chiefs have a group of pass catchers that's literally 2x-3x as good as ours. Travis Kelce is the best TE in the league and has been unreal this year. The amount of plays he's made is truly amazing. JuJu is very solid like always (wanted him bad last year), MVS was our #2 the year before, Toney was acquired during the season when they realized MVS sucks, Skyy Moore as the promising rookie and Hardman a solid vet.

We went into the year with Lazard as our number one (A guy who will be over payed if he's making more than 6 million a year) Watkins as our number 2 (so bad he was cut during the season) Watson who is clearly very talented but didn't catch stride until halfway through the year, he also is clearly very raw when it comes to the intricacies of the position at the NFL level. Doubs who lit up camp because Watson was out and the rest of the squad is slow as dirt. Doubs could be good in the future but he's very raw and failed when we needed him most in the playoffs. Gutes trash 3rd round tradition of Amari Rodgers who was cut as well.

To compare these two rosters is absurd. Their line is significantly better as well, especially after big brain Gute passed on Creed to help the chiefs get him the very next pick, hell the only position that's worse is RB. We were rated top 3 worst pass catchers by EVERYONE for a reason. Gute **** his pants when constructing the roster last year.

QB Cap Percentages:
Mahomes - 17%
Prescott - 9%
Allen - 7%
Brady - 5%
Lawrence - 3%
Jones - 3%
Hurts - .7%

A lot of people here want Mahomes to win just so I'll shut up about this.

Don't think Mahomes winning a SB will change the fact that paying a QB makes it hard to keep a lot of talent on your team. I think Its pretty well-known at this point.

Kadarius Toney is an example of superior players? And JuJu?  Which one of Skyy Moore's 22 catches was showing promise?

"Everyone but Aaron Rodgers sucks," is getting to be a worn out record.

Also kc agruably has the goat at TE, a very affordable position for high productivity that helps every other position on offense

I especially enjoyed Skyy Moore being described as a "promising rookie" whereas Doubs has question marks...despite Doubs outproducing Toney and Moore while missing 4 games.

The other funny thing is that these NO WEAPONS!!11!!11! posters would be outraged if the Packers had rolled out this exact same group last year.

Oh wait, they basically did (HoF caliber #1 player, a bunch of average to JAG level players at the other receiving positions). And the Packers had a better running game than KC too.

It’s extremely funny especially to see MVS propped up as a legit target when if GB would have retained him for 10M a year, Gute would be ripped for overpaying a dropper

@Packerraymond was I think.

I recall arguing in favor of that move for SF with him

I thought the price was too high.  Dude hadn't been healthy since he signed that massive contract.  Wouldn't have done that deal but looks like I was wrong.  He's flourishing in SF.  Turns out it was a good move for them at least for this year anyway.  2,3,4 and a 2024 5th.  That's a lot of picks.  12 mil a season going forward too.  A lot of cash and draft capital for a RB.  Looks like he might just be enough to get them over the top.  So guess if they win it all it would have been worth it.

KC has done a far better job with the draft.  Many more hits in later rounds, and stars like Kelce, Tyreke Hill, Chris Jones after the 1st round.  Effective drafting gives them more room to maneuver the roster than the Packers.

Starters from their draft- round in parenthesis.

Rookies starting: Isaiah Pachecko(7), Karlaftis(1), McDuffie(1); Nickle -Watson(7)

2nd year players: Trey Smith(6), Bolton(2); Creed Humphrey(2)

3rd year: Willie Gay(2):Snead(4)

4th Year: Khalen Suanders(3); Thornhill(2)

Older: Mahomes(1), Chris Jones(2); Kelce(3)

Gute hasn't been able to support the roster like this and the excuse of draft position cannot be used as KC has been picking as late as GB.

How is that better than us? Aside from giving massive points for Mahomes of course.
