VonKarman
There was this video made like 5 years ago in youtube where they said the onside kick had the same chances as a 4&16 try, so it's pretty darn close.
Scoremore
Leave the rules alone. Sick of all these changes. They are going to ruin the game. Hate the idea of 4th and 15. Haven't mentioned penalties. Get a pass interference and then what? It's a really stupid idea. Should have left the onside kick rules alone to.

There needed to be a change. The onside kick was dead
VonKarman
You can always change the DPI rule for this case. For example, make it a 10-yd penalty. You don't award a 1st down, but at the same time you give them a manageable 4&5. If football wants to be as safe as possible, you need to get rid of risky plays, especially when they do not add anything really valuable with those plays. This should be a change to get rid of the KO, the most dangerous play in the sport (with a big margin as well). They made the new KO rules a couple years ago that killed the onside (and it was already a pretty ugly part of the game, if not the ugliest). For me, this is a win-win.
incognito_man
WHAT IF new onside kick rule: no 10yd cushion receiving team has to give and ball doesn't have to go 10 yds for kicking team to recover?!?

ThatJerkDave
XFL kickoff was awesome. Just adopt that. For onside kick replacement: 4th and 15. Defensive penalty is a replay of 4th and 15. Second defensive penalty is an automatic conversion. Offensive penalty is failed conversion. [edit] I would also make it impossible to score on this, untimed, play. Convert on 4th and 15, to any part of the field, you get 15 yards and a first down. Edited May 24, 2020 by ThatJerkDave

MacReady
This whole Devonta Freeman not being able to find a job and considering retirement thing should give absolutely everybody reason to pause and think about re-signing Jones.
