Ian Rapoport -   Mekhi Becton will be out about 4-5 weeks after arthroscopic surgery to remove loose bodies, source said. So, subluxation, MCL sprain, and minor surgery coming. But he’ll be back this season after a stint on IR.

That is one large human being to be big enough to have loose bodies removed arthroscopically.

I like my trade better.

2025 1st, 2026 1st and 2027 1st. We just roll with Love as is. Either Love is a stud or we get enough draft capital to get one. The next two years are gonna be rough anyways.

i actually really like this, then we avoid the 1st round picks affected by Rodgers (mostly) too. And you do one of two things:

(1) get capital to replace Love if he busts

(2) get capital to add young, cheap talent to roster if Love hits and commands a high salary

oldmansmell is playing 3D chess while the rest of us play checkers

would be a great organizational move that no GM would ever make because of concern for job security, however.

Ian Rapoport -    The 49ers are finalizing a deal for veteran CB Dre Kirkpatrick. Some starting experience following the injury to Jason Verrett. Kirkpatrick, who most recently played for the #AZCardinals worked out for SF recently and impressed.

Top notch front offices keep making moves to better their team.  After this last game (and all last year) our D line is tough to watch.  That being said, I don't expect squat for anybody to get signed to fortify it.  Garbage in, garbage out.

More hardship for the Saints. I wonder how big they'll win this week.....

Adam Schefter -   Saints have had a “handful of offensive coaches” test positive for COVID, calling into question their status for Sunday’s game vs. Carolina, per source. But as one Saints’ source said, “We’ll be just fine.”

PFT -  The NFL and the Rams have failed in their last-ditch effort to avoid a jury trial in Missouri over the relocation of the team to Los Angeles.

Via Joel Currier of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Judge Cristopher McGraugh has denied the NFL’s motion for summary judgment, a common device used by civil defendants to secure victory without having a trial. Basically, the defendant argues that there’s no need for a jury to sift through the facts and make decisions, based on specific undisputed facts that, given the applicable law, require a victory for the defense.

Judge McGraugh found that sufficient evidence exists to support a verdict on each of the various claims made by the St. Louis plaintiffs: breach of contract arising from the NFL’s relocation policy, unjust enrichment at the expense of the plaintiffs, fraud, and tortious interference.
