I like your confidence. I don't share it. They've beaten one good team this year.

Not many teams go out and run the gauntlet each year. Minnesota has done well this year and it'll improve even more with recruiting. Iowa is a tough opponent at home. Gophers just need to beat Wisconsin at home. I think they were humbled by this loss and expect a better performance the next 2 weeks.

Your confidence will come.  I think they've beaten more than 1 good team...yes, they've only beaten one better than good team, but GA Southern and Illinois are both bowl-bound and everyone knows the Jackrabbits are a good team, division-level be damned.

Ryan Costello, a prospect in the Minnesota Twins organization, was found dead in New Zealand at age 23.

Costello had arrived in Auckland last week to play his first season with the Auckland Tuatara, a team in the Australian Baseball League. In a news release, the Tuatara said "preliminary indications suggest he died of natural causes."

Wolves had a good win last night. They are still down Wiggins who missed some time for his grandmother's funeral and then has been sick, but the offense looked solid now that we have a point guard playing again. And Utah has a good team, so nice to see the Wolves get the road win there. Hopefully they can finish up the home and home series against the Jazz tomorrow with a win at home.

Nashville selected Abu Danladi in the expansion draft. Former #1 overall pick and the Loon's first ever draft selection.

Tons of talent, but never could stay healthy (couldn't at UCLA either..) or put together a  consistent string of performances. It sucks to see him go, but at this point I'm sort of glad we aren't gonna waste any more time with him. Time for both sides to move on. In return, MN gets $50k in allocation money, and are excempt from next year's expansion draft, so that is a bonus.

Considering the players that were drafted right after him, picking Danladi was a HUGE whiff. I desperately wanted Jackson Yueill that year (MN boy), who is now looking to be a huge fixture of the USMNT for the next decade.

If you care anything about the Gophers' football team, read the Athletic article on Rashod Bateman that was posted.  It gives a great picture on the kid and also how he steadfastly remained loyal to Fleck despite his childhood dream school in his home state coming knocking at his door his senior year in HS.

Designed to replicate the Twins road uniform worn from the 1973 through 1986 seasons, the 2020 alternate will feature baby blue tops and pants, paired with the team’s standard navy blue cap (without the Kasota Gold outline on the interlocking “TC”). The 2020 alternate uniform can be worn by the Twins either at home or on the road.

I wonder if they realize that that era where these unis were worn were some of the worst in the history of the organization.

Saw a tweet that the Twins are kicking the tires on Josh Donaldson. I think that would be interesting, it would definitely mean that they would be moving Sano to 1B. Adding Donaldson to the offense would be riches upon riches. But don't worry, the Twins aren't planning on a two man rotation, it sounds like they are working with a number of starting pitchers as well. I wouldn't expect the likes of MadBum, Wheeler or Hamels to sign until Cole get his deal done, but I wouldn't be shocked with the Twins signing a #4 starter before that happens, and I expect the Twins to push hard for Wheeler.

Separate post, but the Wolves, while still a bit inconsistent, had a nice win last night. Getting a win by more than ten after being down by ten around half time is pretty impressive. Wiggins hasn't fully bounced back after missing time for a funeral, I believe, and then being sick. But he's still playing considerably better than he did the previous season. If he continues to play well this year, the Wolves should make the playoffs, especially if they get Napier healthy.

White Sox sound like they are in the drivers seat for Wheeler.

I'd be very interested in making a trade for Jon Gray. Seth Stohs had a nice write up about trying to find the next Gerrit Cole, and Jon Gray having that kind of potential. I think the Twins have the farm system to try to upgrade the pitching without getting into bidding wars for #2-#4 level starters.

I think you're in the minority on this one. Everyone I've chatted with about the powder blues love them. Myself included.

They've been unwilling to part with some of those prospects, even in the midst of a pennant race with a historic offence. I don't see that changing.
