Vixen Twins watch Wild Wolves and Loony Lynx (MN Sports Thread)

Recommended Posts

Fun Twins series to watch this past weekend. As odd as it sounds, a 4 game sweep of the hot Detroit Tigers (when was the last time they were hot) and the Twins did that by coming back again and again and again. Starting pitching has looked better and the pen has looked a whole lot better.

I wonder if Parise would waive his to go play for Hakstol.  Both UND guys.

Connection is certainly there.

It would be great if Parise waived his NMC but I doubt it happens.

It always seems like teams play better when they have nothing to lose because they're not a factor any longer...which they aren't.

That's the right move for the Wild. Shame we couldn't have done more with them here.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to follow the sport all that closely since the North Stars left, but I find how the NHL salary cap  and contracts work kind of odd seeing all these really long contracts.  It's really absurd that they've been there for 9 years and still have 4 more yrs on their deals.  They'll likely be retired and still will have their cap numbers count against them for several years after that.

The Wild were in a damned if they do, damned if they don't scenario based on the CBA change AFTER the Wild signed Parise and Suter.  It made teams pay for signing back-diving deals like those of Parise and Suter.  Had either player retired prior to their contract ending, even if they were on a different team, the Wild would have suffered cap recapture penalties.

The Wild will have to draft well and have good, cheap, players ready to take some spots in years 3 and 4 of the buyout as the cap hits for those years for Parise and Suter could be crippling.  Once we get beyond years three and four, their cap hits are manageable.

The Minnesota Vixen will be left with some lingering questions after they lost their first trip to the Women's Football Alliance Division I National Championship to the Boston Renegades on Saturday night in Canton, Ohio, but whether or not they can play with the best team in the WFA is not one of them.

While Boston topped Minnesota 42-26 for their third straight championship, the Vixen stayed close into the fourth quarter and scored more points against Boston than the Renegades (9-0) had given up in eight games this season (16).
