No reason to trade prospects if the team is just going to fold against the Yankees in the playoffs.

How much for the crystal ball?

The whole idea is to get better now so that you can beat the best teams in the playoffs. You seem to want to get worse now so that they can fold against the Yankees 5 years from now?

How many times are they going to have a batting champ contender, an MVP caliber CF, a top 3 SS, and a group of their top prospects hitting MLB at the same time? And you want to give up? Pretty defeatist attitude, imo.

The NBA’s draft trading policy is easily one of, if not the absolute dumbest things in professional sports.

Talk about totally ruining a dream come true moment for these kids.

Are they still doing the "we can't make trades official during the draft, so we have kids wearing team hats of a team they'll never play for"?  Yes, that is and always has been dumb.

I did see that they are doing that, and heard some of the interviews that Kessler did with the Memphis media...how awful is it that they put kids in that position to answer questions about a team and players that they'll never play with or for.  They need to change that process.

It is awful. But, when did a huge corporation ever really care about employees?

It depends.  I used to work for a huge corporation (50K+ employees worldwide) and they always put emphasis on their employees...even in letting me go, they showed their concern (in the form of a significant severance and even a bonus later on) that not many would do.  If the opportunity came around, I would work for them again.  It's possible, if they put an emphasis on it.

Fiala ended up signing a 7 x 7.875 milly a year with the Kings

It would have been nice to keep Fíala, but he disappeared in the playoffs and we couldn’t afford that salary. They now have four picks in the first two rounds, I believe. Faber could end up being a very nice pickup too.

I not tripping about it too much Faber seems solid and is a RHD and those are extremely valuable from what ive heard seems like hes only lacking is an offensive game and even then its not TERRIBLE from what Ive heard Sounds like hes going to eat minutes and is a fantastic skater is pretty big too 6 foot weighing 190 lbs at age 19 This sets up with our timeline more than keeping Fiala and gutting a lot of the squad in order to keep him

Right now it seems like our D& Goalie prospect pool are set we just need Wingers and Centers Alot of these guys should just be getting NHL gametime or have been for a year or so when we come out of the deadcap era with this draft it leaves us a very good chance and snagging some decent enough Forwards and adding them to the pipeline

If Jesper is as good as they think he’s going to be, I feel very good about where this team is heading in the next 5 years.

Agreed I think a lot of people that are upset with the Fiala trade are looking at it in the now if that makes any sense and arent looking at the bigger picture in how we look when we come out of the deadcap era winning a cup with 12 and 14 million in deadcap is dang near impossible lets be honest with ourselves

Only thing is we gotta hopr can re sign here when his contract is up
