Acgott
A very good move to get the veteran coach to handle the defense.
Shockwave
Amazingly.. which I can't believe he's only been a DC for 4 total seasons in his 20 years of coaching. 2002 Panthers defense: 2nd in yards allowed, 5th in points allowed 2012 Broncos defense: 2nd in yards allowed, 4th in points allowed 2013 Broncos defense: 19th in yards allowed, 22nd in points allowed 2014 Broncos defense: 3rd in yards allowed, 16th in points allowed Those are some pretty decent numbers. I'd be happy with this hire.
bzane
So long, Spags? Good guy, but time for a change, and pretty sure it's a big upgrade. The Road To Rio runs through New York!
GMENNATION
I would love this hire as well. The more head coaching experience in our staff, the better IMO. We need guys with strong leadership skills after the locker room was a mess last season.
YogiBiz
So would that mean he'd bring over the 3-4 defense with a little of 4-3 concepts? Or would we stay the same in a 4-3?

Well, hey, there's good news, seeing as how they won't have to make a radical personnel shift. Still- wish they would get one of these third-round situational pass-rushers, like Danielle Hunter or Yannick Ngakoue, a speed guy to augment their power DE's, JPP and Olivier Vernon. And about three good linebackers, come to think of it!

That is how every site I have been looking at lists their depth chart. I could be completely wrong however. I also know for a fact they have lined up in a 3-4 for a large part of Del Rio's career. I do think he can adjust schemes to his personnel, so I don't know why we are having this argument. NVM they were using the Hybrid front to be able to move around Mack and Irving to keep offenses guessing. But still it's an interesting thought.
