RpMc
Just now, Heimdallr said: are they trying to get rid of Armstead? Does he not fit their system? He's not an ideal fit in their base alignment. The LEO is supposed to be kind of a terror of an edge presence; he's playing on his 5th year option this year. However, when they go to a pass rushing alignment up front, kick Thomas inside, and slide Armstead out to the 4T it works. Griffen (not from this past season of course), is likely a better fit for their LEO spot and could still kick over to the 4T when they kick Thomas down inside. These are the tough business decisions the team will have to make. I'm expecting some moves this week (Sendejo, Remmers) to gear up for free agency on the 13th. gopherwrestler
There’s rumors, it could be Everson for Brieda and a 6th. Would be interesting to say the least. this is also coming from someone not verified and just a Vikings blogger. only reason I find it believable is us unloading Griffens cap, and Brieda would be a cheap #2 guy behind Cook. 49ers also have an expensive RB on roster and several back-ups more than capable. vikingsrule
I'm fine with Brieda for Griffen. Cook is injury prone so it's nice getting a quality backup who's cheap. The biggest plus is the cap relief. If Rudolph won't agree to a pay cut, cut him. Trading Griffen and cutting Rudolph, Remmers and Sendejo should create close to $30 million in cap space, which can more than cover resigning Richardson and bringing in a starting FA OL. Griffen may very well be past his prime, and he's no sure thing to return to form.
Heimdallr
If it is just a salary dump and he would be getting cut anyway, return doesn't matter all that much

Not a good year for Rudy thinking there's a market for him. Deepest TE draft in years, plus some already solid and intriguing options available in Free Agency. He'd be stupid to think he'll get his current salary from anyone else. Doesn't really block, doesn't stretch the field.
moss_is_1
Rudolphs blocking is fine, but he does seem like a guy who would be willing to take a pay cut for the team in order to get more guaranteed money. Hes a real class act.

(3T), Armstead (LE) Earl Mitchell was cut earlier in the offseason in favor of D.J. Jones, who is a much better nose tackle. Armstead, as of right now, is playing on his 5th year option. He actually played really well last year at our strong-side, big end position, which is mainly responsible for stopping the run. He does fit in the scheme as a good run defender, but his future is murky because he doesn't provide much as a pass rusher anymore, so his value is limited. I'd much rather part with Armstead than Brieda. I can't find anything on Twitter from 49ers reporters, but we'll see what happens.
