It's kind of hefty for a kicker, but as we have seen, this could potentially save us from a LOT of headaches. It's worth it. But I also said that for Daniel Carlson. It's just funny that this seems to be a recurring theme every year. I wonder if he'll do both jobs...could save a valuable roster spot.
Krauser
Several reasons to like this trade: Vedvik has been good in preseason. He’s benefitted from working with the Ravens and under Tucker (best kicking game in the league every year). He’s young, and in his 2nd year. If he’s good, he should be good for years, and he’ll be cheap for the next few years. Vedvik can kick and punt, which saves a roster spot. They can use a skill player (Thielen?) as a FG holder, which opens up possibilities for fakes. And just as important, the Bears wanted him and are still stuck with a couple of guys who’ve struggled in camp, including Pankey whose miss ended their season last year.
vike daddy
Kaare was born and raised in Norway, he first came in contact with American football when he was spending a year as an exchange student in the United States. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaare_Vedvik worked for Jan Stenerud. i'm all in. great trade. vikingsrule
Like this trade. I'd prefer to go with a younger and cheaper option than a retread like Bailey. Just hope Zimmer has more patience than he had with Carlson. If this guy can punt too, that would be awesome. I'm surprised teams haven't come across dual kickers/punters more often to save a roster spot, though I understand it's a completely different skill set.

I doubt that this means cutting Wile we've still mostly had him holding for the kicker and if Vedvik got an injury then you'd have to fill two roster spots along with the in game issues that's just asking for trouble. Ozzy
Great to get Vedvik, dude was super talented at Marshall and has a big time leg! I think possibly worth a 5th rounder but a 5th rounder is a lot to spend on a kicker especially when they just let go completely a decent kicker last year who was a 5th rounder in Carlson. 16-17 FG and 18-18 PAT wasn't he last year on the Raiders pretty decent player to just cut when the special teams coach was the problem last year I feel. VikeManDan
I'm a fan of this trade. Cutting Bailey would mean $250k in dead cap, cutting Wile would result in $0 dead money. Will be interesting to see what they do with the specialists.

SemperFeist
If Twitter is an indication of anything, it’s that people vastly over value a 5th round draft pick.
vikesfan89
It would be risky to cut the holder at this point but he's never worked with the kicker anyways so maybe it wouldn't be all bad. Maybe we'll go with 1 kicker/punter and 2 long snappers

Bermuda Viking
I like the trade. Well done management! I think kicker will be a good story this year for a change!
