vike daddy
Maneuvering the salary cap is a difficult exercise. A financial version of Tetris, it required massive amounts of planning and structuring contracts in a way to maximize the puzzle that is conducive to flexibility. The Minnesota Vikings are currently trying to get back to a great spot with the salary cap as general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah tries to clean up the mistakes made by his predecessor Rick Spielman. According to Over The Cap, the Vikings have the 9th-most dead salary cap space with $31,534,662 counting toward the 2023 salary cap split between 12 players. Adam Thielen: $13.55 millionDalvin Tomlinson: $7.5 million Za'Darius Smith: $4,510,334 Eric Kendricks: $1.93 million Jesse Davis: $750,000 Patrick Peterson: $750,000 Kellen Mond: $579,422 Chazz Surratt: $503,670 Wyatt Davis: $456,106 Janarius Robinson: $332,700 Cameron Dantzler Sr.: $223,750 Ihmir Smith-Marsette: $159,480https://vikingswire.usatoday.com/lists/minnesota-vikings-dead-salary-cap-adam-thielen-zadarius-smith-dalvin-tomlinson/?utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_medium=trueanthem&utm_source=facebook&fbclid=IwAR0mfOnhwT0zWrBQWQaq3lm5tT3CbFkA6kvLsvqB0QSOb-foOUjssHVlWnk Edited June 1, 2023 by vike daddy
swede700
I love the fact that they're still on the hook for a guy who only spent 5 months with the team in Jesse Davis. 🙄 (Of course, that wasn't Spielman's mistake since he only signed as a FA last year...but, they do get a 7th rd pick for him 2 yrs from now). vike daddy
The Minnesota Vikings signed wide receiver Garett Maag out of North Dakota. The roster spot was made available with the retirement of tight end Ben Ellefson earlier in the day on Thursday. Maag’s size at six-foot-four and 210 lbs. paired with his ability have made him a hot commodity since finishing his career as a Fighting Hawk. The former fifth-year senior was invited to multiple rookie camps including the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles. He was listed as a “sleeper to watch” before the draft due to his gaudy measurables at his pro day. https://vikingswire.usatoday.com/2023/06/01/vikings-north-dakota-garett-maag-ben-ellefson/ 6035, 206 40: 4.49 vert: 40.5” 3-cone: 6.90 SS: 4.34 broad: 10’5” Edited June 2, 2023 by vike daddy

I think that's a conditional pick. We probably won't even get that 7th rounder lol

He was with the Steelers the entire year...I don't know if that'll be enough to guarantee it, but who knows.

vike daddy
Wide receiver Garett Maag grew up near Minneapolis in Inver Grove Heights and he’s now a member of Minnesota’s only NFL football team. The team did not include any terms of the deal in their announcement of Maag’s signing. Maag played in 49 games for North Dakota before going undrafted earlier this year. He caught 162 passes for 2,152 yards and 18 touchdowns during his time at the school. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/06/02/vikings-sign-garett-maag/
vike daddy
Kudos to Team Defense for winning the Thielen Foundation Charity Softball Game that was hosted by Harrison Smith and will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters Twin Cities. It was also cool to see Vikings Legends — from near and far — reconnect while playing The Meadows at Mystic Lake in the Minnesota Vikings Foundation Golf Tournament, which raised more than $250,000 to help fund food security and educational programs. We'll have more on that this week. vikings.com
swede700
Quote As we head toward the 2023 NFL season, our preseason rankings articles now spotlights the centers. 20. GARRETT BRADBURY, MINNESOTA VIKINGS He hasn’t lived up to his billing as a first-round pick back in 2019, but Bradbury is coming off a career year that saw him earn a 67.5 PFF grade. His 63.8 PFF pass-blocking grade was the first season where it wasn’t lower than 45.0, improving by far the biggest flaw in his game. https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-pff-center-rankings-top-32-ahead-of-the-2023-nfl-season

vike daddy
O'Connell spoke briefly before Tuesday's voluntary Organized Team Activity practice, explaining how Ellefson will be able to explore coaching, scouting and player development opportunities this year: "Ben and I have had some communication, and his intent to still stay involved with our team and be around our team, we're kind of putting our heads together and kind of come to a conclusion. We're going to have him with us but no longer as a player. He is going to retire and join us in a little more of a hybrid, associate role, get his feet wet in the coaching world. He loves the idea of being around his teammates in the player engagement world, as well as possibly getting his toe in the scouting waters. "When you have players like Ben and a lot of players that we have on our roster, you just want to continue to be a resource for these guys, and he came to the conclusion that he still wants to be part of our organization and I sure as heck want him to be here as well. You guys will see him, probably around training camp, back out around our team, which will be really exciting, and as that role kind of progresses, he'll be with us through the year in that role, and I'm really excited about it." https://www.vikings.com/news/ben-ellefson-tight-end-retires?fbclid=IwAR3L9KF-DuEV3-o9mGAikWYYhiQ7pVp3l5Xrsg3wdYTbcksANCiBiiylkho
